The Droitwich Canals can be cruised as part of The Stourport Ring, or as a leisurely return routeby travelling down through the Tardebigge flight to Hanbury and then turning right onto the Droitwich Canal.
You'll then travel all the way to the River Severn where you can turn around and cruise back to Alvechurch. Alternatively, you can carry on up the River Severn and complete The Stourport Ring.
The Droitwich canal reopened in 2011 after a restoration that was carried out with conservation in mind. A leafy, leisurely trip is guaranteed as you float down these relatively new waterways.
Despite being a recently refurbished, the Droitwich canal is rich in history. Pass through Hanbury, home of Hanbury Hall – a National Trust house famous for its extensive painting collection.
Make sure to travel through the village of Tardebigge – a village with over 30 locks that raise the Worcester and Birmingham Canal over 220 ft (67m). It is also home to The Tardebigge, an elegant country pub with live music every Thursday and Bottomless Brunch.
