The reception staff who showed us to the boat were very friendly and helpful. The boat was clean and provided everything we needed, even complementary tea and coffee to welcome us aboard. We were first time boaters in our 70's but Dave the engineer who instructed us on all aspects of the boat and how to handle and manoeuvre it took away any feeling of apprehension or stress with his friendly but professional approach and cheerful banter. We, together with our dear Jack Russell Molly, had a very enjoyable experience which we will hopefully repeat in the future.

Despite a last minute change of marina and boat the staff at Hilperton dealt with it very well. We particularly enjoyed meeting Darren who explained operating the boat etc very clearly indeed and with patience and humour.

All factors conspired to give the ideal experience, weather, scenery, boat, staff, etc. A slight downside was the fact that one toilet filled up after only 3 days, was it emptied fully beforehand? But staff were very helpful and friendly whenever we made contact. The weather was glorious with some cool nights for relief until the last morning when it drizzled in sympathy with our sadness at it being the last day. \the boat was excellent even though it was 12+ year old; well designed. Brilliant - thanks.

Everything from the first contact with the office staff during booking, through the technical handover on the day, and the boat itself was excellent, but with one major exception, and one minor: the instruction we were given on the first day about lock operation was totally inadequate. Despite having never used a lock before I believe I knew more before the session than I was taught during it. The member of staff involved did not seem to understand her subject at all. We were effectively left to find out for ourselves, which we did with trial and error and large amounts of assistance from other crews. The minor criticism relates to the instructional film that we had to watch. I understand that it is necessary but we had all seen it at least once online beforehand. We were expected to watch it in the middle of a busy shop/office environment and I had to ask for chairs for my elderly parents. It is unreasonable to ask them to stand through a 25 minute film. Is there a small room available where this could be done in comfort and without distraction? I believe these are important issues that need addressing, but I want to add that this did not cloud our enjoyment of the holiday, which overall was excellent.

We're pleased that overall you found your handover to be excellent. However, it is very disappointing to hear that you found the lock demonstration to be inadequate and that you were not offered chairs for your parents. Your comments have been forwarded to the Marina to help them to improve this area of the handover. Most of our Marina's are small but where possible the handover is carried out away from the shop. We hope that you will be enjoying another adventure with us again soon!

We enjoyed a great holiday. The boat was good but we found it a little more difficult to steer than the one we had last year.

Well appointed boat. Need to change fridge opening and tough double birth set up. Brilliantly kitted mooring pins etc, kitchen, towels, bedding Be prepared to pump out day 4. Need list of canal/Thames facilities increasingly places are shutting down
