Well, our barge could go no further on our fourth day as the gates would not fill due to overflow on the other side, etc. We contacted the ABC team at Aldermrston. They did send someone to pick up my husband and take him to our car as we were forced to leave the barge and find other accommodation for two nights. We then dragged our boxes of food, our luggage, etc. to the car unaided. When we spoke to them, they said it was the fault of the Canal Trust that our holiday was ruined. Well, as they had promised us, and we had paid handsomely, for the week on the canal, I think it was and is their duty to see that the waterways we would be using were in order. They, of course, declaimed any responsibility. We rarely complain or criticize. However, should anyone ask us about the week, I am afraid I will have to honestly say that we will never barge again in England because of this experience. We have previously rented barges more than fifteen times in England and in Ireland. We will not be doing so again in the British Isles. Susan J. Puxley

I just told you that the ABC company failed to support us when the barge could go no further due to problems on the lock, and we could go no further on the other route due to a blockage. We did not pay to not be able to travel.

A fantastic weekend away with friends on our first canal boat experience. The trip from Anderton Marina along to the town of Lymm was very enjoyable.

It was our first time hiring a canal boat. I thought the staff guidance was excellent and the boat was presented in great condition. I would definitely use ABC Boat Hire again.

Starting the holiday a really helpful admin team and yard crew. Everything was explained clearly and felt considered for what we needed. A confident start. Boat was excellent, linen and towels good and starter pack in kitchen. Bed configuration - previously discussed worked well for us. Return was straightforward - again admin easy,rubbish area was clear and available. Bill easily sorted for fuel. Couple of considerations - always happy to vacuum but cleaner inadequate so was not helpful to keep boat clean. We also found two nuts in kitchen area floor. Fine for us but customers with nut allergy would have been compromised. MArina well maintained site setting a professional image of company. Will book again using ABC boat's.

The boat was beautifully clean and well presented at the start. There was a cutting board missing and we found the bowls oddly sized - we bought a board and a bowl to see us through. The hand over at the end was slow as we were not told where to moor the boat on return and had to wait while another boat was serviced

Seven of us had a perfectly relaxing week on the Trent and Mersey and Shropshire Union canals. In April the canals were very quiet with no waiting at locks etc.

As the previous report. Good boat, clean but some items missing or inadequate. Hand over at end slow as not told where to moor before we set off.
