We had planned to do the Grand Ring in a clockwise direction in two weeks, and we managed to complete it. This circuit is described as "an energetic fortnight". However our schedule was affected by the limited opening hours for the locks at Stoke Bruerne, Braunston and Buckby. There was a lot of rain in June 2019: virutally every day of the holiday we saw some rain, and this has an impact on our experience. On Monday 10 June we were locking down from Berkhamsted through Watford. On fine day that is quite a grind (most of the locks were set against us, and had to be left empty as requested by CRT), but on that very wet Monday, we were ready to give up the whole trip! It would have been nice if the Eberspacher space heater could have been made to work, especially on that Monday evening, when everything was damp and miserable. The tidal Thames worked fine, and should not be a problem for experienced canallers, so long as you arrive at Brentford at the right time for the tide to carry you up to Teddington. Note: do not use the centre rope in Thames locks - the Thames lock keepers expect you to have bow and stern ropes attached at all times. If we were to attempt the Grand Ring again, I would allow three weeks, and, although it makes the tidal Thames a bit more difficult, I would go round anti-clockwise to go with the flow on the Thames, and for ease of using the locks on the lower Grand Union. Overall, we enjoyed our holiday, despite the rain.

You were very unlucky with the weather during your holiday and we understand that this will have impacted on your overall experience. The Canal and River Trust have introduced some time restrictions on several lock flights across the canal network to help manage water levels throughout the boating season, unfortunately this has affected some of our route options and timings. We look forward to seeing you again, hopefully with better weather next time!

The boat was spotless and so well equiped. The cooking facilites were more than we expected. The beds were a bit narrow, but we managed. Will do it again, this being our first time ! Bernadettte and geoff pruden

The boat was not as luxurious as we have been used to on previous boating holidays. For example why are there no padded seats for the external seating? One of the toilets had not been cleaned properly and smelt badly for a couple of days until we cleaned under the rim. The hairdryer is inadequate. We had to run the engine a lot to get sufficient hot water and that is with just three people on the boat. The fold down seat in the saloon is not level when down and is very uncomfortable to sit on. A chopping board would be useful. The measuring jug was cracked and should have been replaced. The filtered water tap is far too slow. I tried one on a boat next to us when we got back which was much faster. Perhaps the pump needs changing? The hood on the waterproof jacket does not have any apparent means of attachment to the jacket? The rear hatch is difficult to close and in order to bolt the doors internally you have to lift it which is both difficult and can cause trapped fingers. Twice I bumped my head on the tiller pin when tying up at the back which is highly dangerous as it is pointed! The rear mooring rope was frayed and far too short to be of any use. There should be a spare one. The mooring stakes should have an eye on them so that the rope can be passed through and back to the boat. Last year our holiday was cancelled due to an engine failure. This year we had to start from Whitchurch instead of Wrenbury thereby missing out on 7 locks. I realise both were beyond your control but it has been quite frustrating for us and together with all the other above mentioned points will make us think twice before using ABC again.

Friendly staff gave a thorough explanation of the boat's facilities. Pretty canal with lots of interesting features making for a fun, enjoyable holiday. Good value following sale. Marina not the largest or best equipped but is located in an area with many interesting historic features. Also a nice cafe nearby with a visitors' centre, so plenty to see.

Allt fungerade mycket bra: hämtning och lämning av båten, introduktion av personal på plats, båtens alla funktioner och VÄDRET! Kanalturen vi gjorde Goyte Wharf till Llangatock och tillbaka var mycket fin och lummig. Kanalen är här ganska grund och lerig, så man får passa på hur man kör...

Staff are excellent, boat was well maintained, reliable and clean. Really cant fault your staff, very friendly and helpful Constructive criticisms would be, sharper knives and better quality would help. Our television was inoperable due to a damaged remote control, this didn’t spoil our holiday but we would have liked to hear the News occasionally. Final niggle was the curtain opposite the bathroom which kept sliding off the rail.
