Myself and five crew had an excellent experience with 14 days on the Kennet and Avon Canal. Arctic Warbler suited our needs perfectly and operated reliably the whole trip. I would wholeheartedly recommend ABC Boat Hire and would use them again myself if the opportunity arises.

The narrowboat ( Fieldfare Thrush ) was well-appointed, spotlessly clean and, clearly, excellently maintained on our arrival. It was a pleasure to cruise in such a good craft.

Well maybe a 4 because we had to pump out one of the toilets. But that may have been our fault and it was free anyway.

It is unusual for customers to need a pump out during a 7 night holiday but we will always refund the cost if you have needed to do this. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your holiday!

A great family holiday! Perfect amount of space on the boat for 7 people plus a dog. Excellent shower, simple but quite sufficient kitchen, comfortable and cosy beds. Only thing we missed was recycling bins at the canal-side refuse points.

welcome reception at Whitchurch boatyard was one of best we have had over the many years we have hired boats. they went out of their way to get us sorted early so we could go and watch England world cup game.

Handover person was 'called away' half way through and we could not get him back - on enquiring we were informed he was having his lunch and our family of 4 were left on the boat in FULL sunshine in a heatwave at the hottest part of the day for an hour until 3pm when he finally returned. Having hired with ABC 5 times before we were fully capable as explained and very nearly departed with the boat just to get out of the sun. So much for customer service and the customer coming first. Poor organisation at this Marina. Phoned marina at end of first day (8pm Sunday) on the non- emergency number in the manual and left a message to report main toilet smelling after only 24 hours (other toilet fine) requesting a call back which was never returned all week.

We had a very efficient, But thorough introduction to the boat, and also how to operate the locks. The booking, handover and return of the boat was very smooth ! Highly recommend based on our experience.. Only lacked a Norwegian flag, but that was because we forgot to bring one ..

There were 2 of us on the boat and to do 5 hours per day to achieve the planned journey would involve too much standing up (you had to stand up to steer the boat). A couple of seats would have been useful both for steering and on the canal side. So, although the scenery was good, it wasn't as relaxing as hoped. We were lucky the weather was good - a rainy week would have been a nightmare as there was no shelter when steering.

With our Cruiser Stern boats it is possible to perch on the rail around the back of the boat when cruising in a straight line but to be able to see over the roof of the boat to steer then the person on the tiller will need to stand. Our advertised routes are just suggestions and of course customers can always choose to do less or more cruising hours to suit them. We do supply 2 sets of waterproofs onboard every boat because our British weather can be so unpredictable!

Good welcome and Lee was very helpful. The hand over felt a little rushed but this may have been because we were familiar as we had been before. However having used ABC on several occasions we felt although all the criteria were met things like the welcome pack could have been a little improved. For example, The dishwashing sponge was used and we threw it away. There were one or two minor repairs required on the boat too which whilst they did not impact on our holiday were a little inconvenient. Overall we would use again just minor improvement points
