Boat, rout, weather were all excellent. A few more directions and recommendation about where to stop and what to see would have helped. Two extra days would have allowed us to visit Shugborough Hall

“Life at the speed of a canal”...what a relaxing and unique vacation we had on the Llangollen Canal! From the minute we arrived at Whitchurch Marina we were impressed with the staff, the boat and the accommodations. The Hooded Warbler, just a year old, was shiny and clean and well stocked. Our Captain (Steve) and Chief Engineer (Jason) did an admirable job manning the stern. Miss-Chief (Karen) kept an eye on the map and route, and Lock Labourer (Nancy) and General Dogsbody (Elisabeth) pitched in with ropes, windlasses and water hose, while Galley Slave (Beryl) kept the saloon ship shape! We loved the camaraderie of canal life, the canalside scenery, the cute towns, pubs and shops, the bird calls and sheep chatter, and especially the quiet overnights under shady trees.

Staff, as always great. Boat clean and well equipped, though the livery looked a little tired. An analogue radio would be better as digital signal often abysmal. Seating could be more comfortable, too! However, we love ABC boathire and staff and will no doubt be back for another adventure afloat.

A really lovely holiday on a well equipped boat. Getting water each day was a challenge, but all part of the fun.

Overall, very good! But, web site says that there are 'chairs and stools' provided. They were not supplied, and even after asking the staff, none were on board. Pity, because we left our folding chairs at home after reading the web site info!! We hired this exact same boat 4 years ago; since then, it obviously hasn't seen a paintbrush and now really needs a good smarten up and make over. Apart from that , a very enjoyable holiday!

Good but not the usual Excellent we would give from prior years. boat not as clean as usual - items missing. Info from boatyard regarding route should have been better

The boat was very good. Everything that we needed was there. he only drawback was having to stand up to steer didn't do my legs much good. Could do with a pad on the gas bottle housing to sit on. We were very lucky with the weather which was a great advantage.

Firstly we were very lucky weatherwise which meant we were never confined to the boat but that wouldn't have been any problem if we were as it was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The staff at the marina were very helpful and knowledgeable and made us complete novices feel quite confident. Hi At every lock there were friendly people willing to help us although the 4 of us soon went through them as if we had been doing them for years! Also the people walking or cycling along the towpath were so friendly; we felt part of a real community. We would certainly think of making a trip on another canal at some point in the future and area already recommending it to our families and friends.

Lovely boat - no problems - will definitely be back. We managed to make our way down to Henley and back. Pubs along the way very friendly and inviting.
