Great holiday, first time canal boat holiday and would definitely do it again. People on the river were so friendly and some lovely scenery and nice pubs. Next time would find a route with a town to go through en route. The boat was a little tired as had obviously been in service for a good number of years. But this didn’t stop our enjoyment. We phoned the engineer twice during office hours re a pump noise which we wanted to have turned off as kept us awake all night (water pump every 3 minutes really loud for those in front cabin). No call back, but we managed to find the switch to turn it off through the night - would have been handy to know that on handover and not very reassuring if we had had a real technical problem. We were 20minutes late returning the boat (which we apologised for) and had an officious/curt greeting from the marina staff, even though I had stripped all the beds and had got the towels together for the cleaners. So saved them at least that amount of time. All in all would certainly recommend this type of holiday. We are family of 4 (children both 11..great age for them to help with the locks and not be too worried about them falling off the boat).

Had a great three week holiday. Covered the Leeds and Liverpool canal, Aire and Calder, Calder and Hebble and the Rochdale Canal. Done in great comfort on Piping Plover a good improvement on the Heron Class boats we have enjoyed previously

Great team, great boat. Clean, comfortable. Good advice on where to go and how to enjoy the trip. Beauty and history at every turn. Would advise going through Tixall doc quietly, though. Lady of the house like to sleep past 7 AM!

The boat handled really well and everything was clean and tidy. However, during a very heavy rainstorm, the back hatch leaked badly, soaking the carpet in the rear cabin and the bags on the floor, plus dripping occurring through the air vents along the roof. This clearly had happened before, as seen by the water staining on the wood edging on the hatchway. Apart from that, it was a great boat and trip, despite not being the one we had originally booked.

They were very helpful, from the booking process right through to explaining everything we needed to know about operating the boat and locks. It was all very professional and everyone we dealt with was very friendly.

Great week - loved the Black Country ring route. And the weather was kinder to us than previously! Just a small point - the drop down bed sides were awkward to move around and indeed one of our party needed to go to A and E after gashing his leg on the side on first night. When the side of the bed was up, we found making the bed and fitting the sheets difficult as they seemed rather small. However, the mattress, once in place, was comfy.
