I'd recommend ABC boathire. We had a fabulous week in a modern, well equipped narrow boat. All staff were kind and helpful. The boat was clean, the beds comfy, the bedding pristine. The kitchen is well equipped. Our concern was ensuring the battery was kept topped up so we could flush toilets, run the microwave and have a cold fridge. With care this was achieved but the fridge would be best running off gas as it wasn't cold enough for me. We self-catered most nights so had a lot of food to keep cold. Otherwise, only positives.

Service and people very good but could not give 5 stars as boat broke down and were disappointed with not being an ABC boat.

With the exception of the oven, which annoyingly didn't work, all else was just fine. Mechanically the boat was great and the canal was excellent.

From day one the staff were 100% professional, friendly, helpful and supportive. The narrowboat was perfect, very clean and faultless. Together the staff advice and the boat turned us from complete novices to at least competent amateurs. We did have one problem when the rudder hit an underwater boulder (?) and was dislodged. We called for help and the on call technician was with us within half an hour, worked for hours in the pouring rain and got us going again. Outstanding. All in all the holiday was a great adventure. I'm 73 and ex building sites, army and ambulance service and seen good and bad managers and teams and I'd rate the Falkirk Wheel team as amoung the best I've seen. Thanks for the adventure. Of special mention, try the Four Mary's pub in Linlithgow And due extra special mention are the volunteers of the locks and bridges teams. Again 100% on the ball. Thanks again.

The orientation and prep information were very helpful, with friendly service at check-in. The boat was well equipped, clean, and easy to use. We learned how to manage the locks, keep the boat out of the mud and canal-side vegetation, and moored up successfully. And the amenities along the way were very accessible. I would definitely recommend renting with this company.
