Spacious and well equipped boat. A little difficult to turn around along the canal where we went. Could have used camping chairs to be able to sit on the river bank.

We had a lovely few days on a 70 foot narrow boat. There was plenty of space for everyone. Some camping chairs would have been useful to allow us to sit on the riverbank.

Not for beginners because of the 138 locks between our start and destination. And 138 locks back. Glad we had a Wren because of its size. The rest of the trip was fantastic. We hit a holiday week so there were lots of people to help us along the way. The second week we took our time and had a very leisurely voyage back.

The only problem I had with the service was that the boat was dirty on the outside. There was mold on the life ring, dirt on the top and side rails and bird poop across everything. They graciously cleaned the windows after I pointed it out. I felt I was on a class B boat till I cleaned it up. Other rentals we saw looked very spit and polished. We had a wonderful time and the team was very helpful and encouraging with the exception of the dirt.

This was our second hire from Springwood Haven and on both occasions all of the staff there were extremely pleasant and helpful. The boat itself, the Pintail Duck, was clean, well equipped and handled well. We have been hiring narrowboats for many years from different companies and our only slight criticisms are that this particular boat was a bit short on hanging and storage space. Also being hirers of advancing years we found the wider beds to be a bit of a hindrance when passing through the boat but appreciate all things have to be a bit of a compromise. To sum up from our experience with them we are certainly happy to recommend ABC Boat Hire.
