Our third time of hiring a canal boat with ABC. Our booking telephone conversation started positively early in the year with ABC advising us of possible options and helping us to create a holiday that "ticked the boxes" for us. Picking up the boat and refresher course at Alvechurch was as we expected - no rushing and all questions answered clearly so we were well equipped for a comfortable weeks cruising. During our week away there was a lock fault up stream. Whilst the repair was the responsibility of the River and Canal Trust ABC kept us fully informed in case it impacted on our route. The fault was repaired within 24 hours so did not impact us but it is nice to know the support was there if it had been a more serious lock fault. On return an ABC staff member came on board and took charge of getting the boat into a busy marina and helping us to disembark. If we can we would like to get another cruise in later in the year but if time is against us then hopefully we will be hiring again with ABC next Spring.

Having their own restaurant/pub at the Marina meant we could meet up with our friends well before we due to pick up the boat and have a relaxing and long overdue catch up. For 4 adults (average age 69) and an 8 year old dog was ample space for us.

This is our 4th trip with ABC and 100% will not be our last - this time round we travelled out from Kings Orchard where the staff were friendly and helpful, nothing felt too much trouble. The team at the marina went through our proposed route with us and suggested a few stop off points (mostly pubs !). The boat was spotless and the handover with the team was smooth. We had a great four nights on board and the boat performed admirably, meeting all of our needs. We would most certainly recommend ABC. Now, which marina and route for next time.......

Everything went smoothly. Boat was generally in very good condition and ran well. Staff at the marina were friendly and helpful. An excellent long weekend in great weather.

Boat was excellent but the Kennet and Avon canal is not a relaxing place as there are virtually no overnight moorings. Most temporary moorings are taken up by very tatty private boats which have obviously been moored far longer than the 24 or 48 limit. We had to start looking for moorings very early in the day to be sure of somewhere to moor for the night.
