Unfortunately the Scottish Canal system isn't for us. We didn't enjoy booking to use locks etc, we prefer to just go with the flow when we're on holiday. All the volunteers at the locks were really lovely. The highlight was the Falkirk Wheel. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery too and the easy access to Edinburgh centre from the canal.

We enjoyed the trip up to llangollen including the Pontcysyllte aqueduct and the chirk tunnel. Lots of lovely scenery and only two locks each way. Llangollen itself is nothing to shout about and the single file stretches can be chaotic at busy times.

Relaxing trip at our own pace. Lots to see and do all along the way from Falkirk to Edinburgh, and then to Glasgow. A great way to see Scotland and take our accommodations with us as we traveled. Love having the table at the bow for meals, and the seats at the stern so we could sit together while cruising.

All the people we met at ABC boat hire were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and professional. They made the whole process easy and very enjoyable.

It was our first trip we both enjoyed it although a bit unsure of the timings as when to head back. Boat was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed. The only thing that wasn’t made clear was that the Wi-Fi voucher ran out after a couple of days but apart from that everything was great.

Had a good week on board Sanderling from Falkirk Marina. Had a few issues with the toilet needing pumping out ever couple of days losing cruising time, as this can only be done in certain places. We were advised when we collected the boat that we shouldn't need a pump out. Also crusing times we were given were not possible with a wide beam, we found we had to add at least an hour to most of the times quoted. We just feel staff should know their boats a little better.
