Had a lovely sunny week on the wren warbler , lovely boat which was clean and tidy on collection. , staff at Kings Orchard Marina were very pleasant even though they were very busy . Had a lovely week . Thanks to Emma for handover and answering call-out which was a minor non listening issue on our side .

We had a wonderful time on the canal boat and will do it again. In an earlier life I was a Captain in the Merchant Navy commanding ships, I taught shiphandling in the Merchant Marine and U.S. Navy. I also owned a travel agency for seven years. My following comments are positive suggestions. Waterproof anti-fatigue mats to stand on in the stern cockpit would be a useful addition to the vessels Waterproof cushions for the bow seats would also be an excellent option. Dull kitchen knives are dangerous, and the sharpener provided does not work well. Please have them sharpened periodically. Additions to your red handbook. You need to add a section on using a winding hole and turning the vessel. This is not covered at all in the book. On pages 25, 32 & 33 spend more time discussing engine use entering and when in the lock, so someone is not tempted to stop the boat using the front gate. Perhaps one of the greatest dangers is getting the stern line caught in the propeller. While it is noted on page 30, this topic should really be in large red letters. To help avoid propeller line wrapping you may also want to add to page 32 a brief write up on using the midships line to hold a boat alongside for short periods. Perhaps I missed it, but I did not see any notes on canal etiquette. Items such as who enters a lock first, leaving gates open for following boats, politeness and patience. First timers have a lot to deal with and knowing accepted behavior smooths out the adventure. I think that selling the 4 counties ring trip as a 7-night eight-day option is not proper. Perhaps very experienced boaters with everything going their way can do it but even then, it is a bit of a forced march. The four counties ring trip is really a 9-night 10-day trip and should be marketed as such. Just some thoughts.

Boat ready for collection on time and after a brief chat we were on our way. Reception very efficient and gave us alternative ideas to improve our trip. Boat had everything one could need and was in good condition and very clean.On return, staff were ready to assist with mooring and we were soon disembarked and on our way home. Altogether an excellent week. Thank you ABC leisure (Alvechurch Marina) We could well be back.

Staff very helpful, welcoming and friendly. Wifi should be available for the whole period of hire and not be subject to usage (not clearly explained prior to holiday). Fitted sheets for double beds not large enough to fit over mattresses.

Would be 5 stars but the behaviour of many private boaters is becoming hard to bear. They seem to treat hirers as a sub species and many of them are rude. They complain about our speed when we ALWAYS pass moored boats on tickover. They moor on lock and bridge landings and in winding holes and try to order us about at locks.
