We did have a great week on an ABC boat from Goytre Wharf, and would recommend them. Two minor problems, (1) the water hose was split/leaking, a meter or so from the tap, (2) The WIFI code ran out after five days, and not due to data usage.

We had the boat for 2 weeks and cruised to Liverpool Docks (which we'd tried to do twice before and aborted for various reasons). We did get to Liverpool Docks as planned and it was great, but it was not without numerous difficulties. These included swing bridges only open certain hours, a broken swing bridge were boats were only being let through at midday, an impassible pound at Wigan, due to no water and a swing bridge failing to close properly. These 'issues' required a lot of re-scheduling of our cruising schedule and some early morning starts and late evening finishes, which were stresses we were not expecting. Also, on our return, a hold up of a day due to problems with the Barton Aqueduct meant we had to cancel our Anderton Lift / R. Weaver trip at the end.

Really helpful and service minded. The run through of the boat was a bit brief but sufficient. It is a complicated boat with a lot of systems on board and a complete run through might take a full day.

Really great business to deal with. Keep you updated at every turn, and when you arrive to get the boat, they explain and demonstrate everything in detail, from safety to the layout and operation of the vessel. Springwood Haven is an ideal place to start the journey and the run of 11 locks in the direction of Atherstone is brilliant.

Excellent service both at handover and return. The boat was well prepared. I left a coat and fleece in one of the wardrobes and they recovered them and posted them to me.

The service was excellent. We were well received and briefed on the required issues. Having set off we had a bit of a technical the first evening. The engineer found us and resolved it. From then on it was magic. No problems and pure relaxation.

There's plenty of choice. If you want to take on the locks there are plenty, but if you fancy something less strenuous, there are stretches of the canal (Ashby), which is pretty much just plain causing. The volunteers who are present at some of the locks are so helpful in showing you what to do, without making you feel like a complete fool.

The induction was very long. Whilst I appreciate that a lot of it was important information, there were things where they went through it in the office and then again once we were on the boat. We found that because there was so much information, we couldn’t remember everything and forgot some things which were actually important.

We did the Stourport Ring. The distance is just right for a week, plenty of locks to keep the kids busy, and nice pubs.

Our 5th holiday on the canals with ABC, once again there were no problems. Nice boat, very comfortable bed, helpful people on hand when needed.
