The boat was spotlessly clean. Everything was as advertised. The initial training was very good and done with humour. The staff were extremely polite and pleasant and had excellent knowledge.

The boat and staff were excellent but the holiday was curtailed by having to pick up the boat in Stoke rather than at Gailey. I understand this was outside of the control of the boatyard but nevertheless meant that we lost several miles of our cruising route and in particular a visit through Stone which has some sentimental value to me.

We had a bad experience at Middlewich locks at the beginning of our holiday and it unnerved us. We accept it was our lack of experience but the handover session should be more descriptive on what to expect and how to operate the locks safely, so we may have been better prepared. This is particularly important for any clients heading south through the busy multiple locks at Middlewich. My wife and I are pensioners and were totally out of our depth during the passage through the locks. The online video does not prepare you nor does the handover discussion which only concentrated on the way locks fill but does not cover how to fill them safely. We realise now the sluices were opened too quickly and the turbulence made the boat almost uncontrollable in the lock. We worried about coming back through and brought the boat back 3 days early. As it happened retuning back through was easier as we were travelling downstream and some of the locks were manned by volunteers, but our holiday had already been spoilt by our initial experience.

We were very delayed leaving the marina as a wardrobe door catch was faulty. in the end it couldn’t be replaced as no spares so was jammed shut with a piece of wood. other than that it was all good.

The boat was in good condition and very clean. Well kitted out. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely use ABC boats again.
