We chose to travel to Stratford-upon-Avon and return. Lots of great features on route. Some good pub stops and lots of locks.

Everything about ABCs narrowboat rental service was excellent. Even though the start to our 7 day adventure on the Kennett and Avon Canal was delayed due to an electrical issue with the boat, the crew at Hilperton Boatyard looked after us until the boat was fixed and ready to go. We had rented a narrowboat before, and we treated the thorough briefing on all aspects of the boat as a much needed refresher course of things we may have forgotten. The boat itself was very comfortable and performed without fault (after the repair). We were allowed to moor the last night of our trip in their boatyard which enabled us a quick getaway in the morning. Booking, paying, vessel return and everything else was smooth and efficient. I wouldn’t hesitate to rent another narrowboat from ABCs depot at Hilperton Boatyard.

We booked this to follow the recommended route from Alverchurch to Stratford and back in the week though we expected this to be challenging with many more locks than our previous holidays. The exceptionally hot week added to the challenge but we stayed ahead of schedule and got a good sense of achievement from the trip. Despite the school holiday week there did not seem to be a large number of other holiday boats on the canal.

Thank you for your wonderful review. We're delighted to hear the boat was clean, well-prepared and equipped with everything you needed for your holiday. Completing the Alvechurch to Stratford route and back in a week, especially during such hot weather, is a fantastic achievement. It's great to know that all three generations of your family enjoyed the experience and that the quieter canals added to your trip. We hope to welcome you back for another canal adventure soon. The boat was well prepared, very clean and provided everything needed for a good canal holiday. We had a week of hot, dry weather and accomplished our aim of travelling to Stratford and back and all three generations in our party had an enjoyable, if challenging, holiday.

Just had a great time, a new experience, new places and great weather to enjoy it. As first timers, avoided the bath locks and learnt early on to leave early to get a good mooring. On picking up the boat, we left the marina about 4:30 and had hoped to get a mooring before the Bradford lock, but didn’t find any free and suddenly the lock was ahead. A bit daunting but a friendly boater came to our rescue. Took next gap we saw and stayed 2 nights. Recommend The Lock Inn if you love Ribs, check opening times though. Spent next night just after bridge at Limpley Stoke. Recommend the Hop Pole Inn. Then 2 nights in Bath. And same 1 night stops on way back. Met some great people, was lovely just chatting and having a laugh. Highly recommend.

We have had an amazing holiday, what an experience that we will definately be doing again. The staff are great and go over everything you should know about the barge, locks, reading the canal maps etc and the barge was equipt with everything you could possibly need and to top it off the weather was amazing.
