Not ABC's fault that all visitor moorings on River Avon taken up by "permanent boat owners" therefore two previously booked dinners in pubs had to be cancelled.

Regarding your journey, reaching the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is possible on a 4-night break when departing from our Blackwater Meadow Marina. However, to complete the full Llangollen route from Wrenbury Mill, a 7-night hire is typically required. God service og meget fin, hyggelig og veludstyret båd. Lidt svært at gennemskue hjemmefra, hvor det er smart at starte sin tur ud fra hvilke ting, man gerne vil opleve…. Vi nåede desværre ikke aquadukten, fordi vi ikke havde tid nok, hvilket vi havde troet vi havde, ud fra beskrivelsen på hjemmesiden.

A really lovely canal to boat along. The canal boat had everything needed for the trip and was well equipped. We would have preferred a larger boat with more comfortable sleeping arrangements, but none were available for the week booked, but this was reflected in a much cheaper price, so value for money.

Excellent service from the staff at Foxes boat yard in March, who operate on ABC’s behalf. The shower hose split half way through our trip and they came to the boat and replaced it within a few hours. When we needed a pump out they advised exactly where we could find the facility. The boat was clean and well resourced.

We had a lovely holiday. Cambridgeshire was a great place to explore. Cambridge and Ely were beautiful and fascinating places to visit. Mooring up at the end of Wicken fen and walking round the wildlife sanctuary is definitely worth doing. We saw so much wildlife on the trip, including a grey seal! Much quieter waterways than the Llangollen canal. So peaceful.

This was a trip that we have been looking forward to since the summer of 2020. We had a boat booked that summer, but the entire trip from Canada to the UK was done in by COVID-19. Our experience with ABC has been nothing but great. The booking process was very smooth and the booking staff were extremely helpful. Upon arriving at Falkirk, we received a warm greeting at reception, help getting our luggage to the boat, and help getting our luggage on the boat. This was greatly appreciated as it was raining. The hand over tuition was very well done. It was quick, but not rushed. Bill made sure that we understood everything and patiently answered all our questions. As to the boat itself, we were very pleased. Having a wide beam boat rather than an actual narrow boat meant that we had more floor space. This was fully appreciated as we were a group of six. While obviously a bit older than some of the other boats we saw, it was very clean, well equipped, and for the most part, everything worked exactly as we expected. It did take us a few days to get a firm grip on handling her, but by the end of the week all three people who drove were comfortable at the helm. Then came the wind! That presented some new problems, but we survived. We found the wide beam boat travelled much slower than the narrow boats, and we were perfectly fine with that. We had a wonderful time exploring the Union Canal at a very leisurely pace.. A truly wonderful experience! A few very minor thoughts. We would suggest that more than 2 rolls of toilet paper per toilet be provided for a group of six people on a one week rental. Also, more hooks for towels in the bathrooms would be nice. There really aren’t a lot of places for six people to hang towels to dry. We purchased a couple of inexpensive lawn chairs to use at the table and on the front deck. At the end of the week, we left them on the boat. Hopefully, they have stayed on the boat! We also had to arrange for a pump out of one toilet after 2 1/2 days. Not a big issue, but did bite into our time a bit. The only other issue we had was a throttle lever that would not hold a constant speed, but I expect that has already been dealt with.
