We had a lovely experience. We arrived to find plenty of parking nearby to the boat mooring so loading up our boat was easy. We had a great, covid safe handover, basic admin, revisit of lock process and protocols. Once we'd managed the shoreside issues, we then had a thorough and very effective handover from one of the helpful staff. He took us through the functions that we need to know and understand. Armed and dangerous with our handover info, we were let loose on the Llangollen Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal. A somewhat emotional release for first-timers straight out into an s bend with private moored boats made for a tense start. That said, our boat behaved impeccably despite my inexperience. Through the remainder of our 3-day hire, the boat was faultless, manoeuvrable and reliable. Everything from the inventory was present and in good condition. We had a great experience, the canal route was beautiful, we wish we had a bit longer so we could have used the viaduct but we had to turn around at Ellesmere. The information provided by ABC was spot on, the boat was exactly as described and made our break a really enjoyable time.

Good fun and hard work. Boat was not very clean. We had to clean all kitchen utensils and anything we wanted to use before using it. Jug was filthy, remains of previous habitants cooking on baking trays. One saucepan had what looked like mould in it. Top of fridge was filthy. Such a shame as this just made the while thing feel tainted.

Even though none of the party had never been out on a barge,we all had a fantastic time.Everyone liked the barge it suited our needs.We are definitely coming back next year.Thanks for the great memories. Tom

Nice boat, in good condition, sensible helpful staff at Worcester, good route information pre-holiday. Everything on the boat worked well. The video uploaded is for staff use alone unless we give further permission.

This was the first time we have hired a boat. There were 2 staff at the marina, Ian was very helpful going over aspects of the boat and maintenance checks. The lady (sorry can't remember name) was quite abrupt and questioned our route, something we had submitted a couple of weeks prior. This put us on the spot as we had planned this route. If they felt it was too difficult it could have been questioned prior to our arrival as there had been email correspondence. She also tried to put us off doing the bigger locks making us question or holiday choice and cast a negative start. The boat was clean on the floors, surfaces, bathrooms, and kitchen, however the bedding was stained and the pillow and mattress protectors had not been changed recently. Neither TV picked up a signal the whole time we were away. The mattresses were very uncomfortable, springs springing when you turned over and the pillows lumpy. Overall we had a great time on the canal, enjoyed discovering new places, we had fun operating the locks with no problems. We will holiday on a barge again.
