Just a few minor faults on the boat. Various lights not working etc. Horn didn't work and bilge pump, although it was not needed, seemed to nothing when checked.

Overall , we had a fantastic week on the boat and the weather was a big plus.We enjoyed it very much. There were a few minor faults with the boat but we have listed these on the sheet you supplied us at the end of the week. The main thing we felt was a little disappointing was the handover on day one . We felt that this was very rushed and as we had never done this before we expected a little more instruction and maybe just ask if we understood each item as it was explained.The guy jumped off the boat before we were out of the marina ! we felt like we'd been thrown in the deep end without bothering to ask us if we could swim ! Fortunately we soon got the hang of the boat and met some really freindly , helpful people at the first couple of locks. We did speak to another couple who were first timers like us out of Wrenbury and they felt exactly the same about their handover. One last thing we felt should be pointed out for those wanting to go to Langollen was the very narrow , winding parts of the canal just before the town. For newbies like us with a 55ft boat it was very challenging !

We do also send guests links to the boaters handbook before the start of the holiday so they can absorb some of the information before the boat handover. My husband and I really enjoyed the holiday, the boat was clean and well equipped. The teenagers however, found it a bit boring and the promised WiFi didn't ever work. The beds were on the uncomfortable side, but we're used to camping so it didn't ruin the experience.

Happy with the boat but the difficulty around booking locks and the extent of weeds on the union canal took the shine off the holiday. The attitude of one of the lock keepers to my Deaf friends was appalling. There is no need for the lock keepers and not doing the locks yourself takes away some of the enjoyment

More than I expected from a canal boat holiday, would highly recommend ABC there canal boat and instructor and staff were spot on.

We had a lovely midweek break with ABC at Blackwater Meadow Marina. Staff were helpful and friendly and tried to process us all as efficiently as they could so we could get on our way. The boat was in good repair, comfortable and had all you really needed. We brought extra stuff but I would say don’t bother - storage is limited. Bring only what you need. Also only need provisions for the first day or two. Plenty of options to get extra supplies along the way

Honestly, I felt proud to be in charge of a boat that was so spotlessly clean and well-looked after, inside and out. All the ABC boats are absolutely beautiful, and very well maintained too. When we arrived, we were immediately shown to the boat and allowed to bring our bags and bits aboard and check everything was to our satisfaction (it was). We received a comprehensive health & safety briefing first in the marina building (including all we needed to know about operating locks) and then from an engineer on the boat itself. We were shown exactly how to operate the boat, as well as daily tasks such as lubricating the prop shaft and pumping the bilge, and we were shown in detail how to isolate the gas, diesel and electrical supplies in the event of any emergency. Most impressively, the services on the boat such as the kitchen taps, bathroom, toilet, shower etc., all work normally, just as they would on-shore... all you have to do is top up the water tank when you go past a tap. Our only criticism is that it is a bit of a faff (and you need to be quite strong) to convert the lounge/diner furniture into a double bed. I'm not sure my wife would have been able to do it on her own - it was a struggle for me and I'm a big strong builder! When we returned to the marina at the end of our holiday, everything was just as efficient - and we were even refunded for the fuel we hadn't used. Overall it was a marvellous experience and we will definitely do it again. It goes without saying that we will hire the boat from ABC next time too!

Overall very good but the boat was getting old and needed attention. Starter motor not working; needed a hammer tap to get going. Door handle fell off. Also would have been good to be warned about restricted hours at locks 54 and 55.
