Not informed about lack of water points on the route; the boat leaked from the roof, and the lack of water led us to fret about running out so much so that we bought loads of bottled water at a supermarket

A well structured 1st time user break on a canal boat, completely different to anything we have previously undertaken. Physically relaxing but at first require a good deal of concentration. The weather helped. Boat was clean and as expected, a tight fit!

The single beds were uncomfortable and the dining table at front of boat too large with difficulty getting around that part of cabin

The guidance itinerary gave quite a pretty gruelling schedule to get to Llangollen and too much time for the return journey. This was our first canal boat trip, would be much wiser next time.

3rd Canal boat holiday, done one every 5 years, this was the best yet. Scenery beautiful, not too many locks, aqueducts, tunnels, great variety.

Internally the boat was very clean and everything worked well; mechanically the boat was obviously well maintained. The staff at the base were very friendly and efficient and Covid-compliant. Our criticisms are minor to be fair and only commenting because of over 40 years of hiring on the canals: design of table in front cabin meant there was a tight squeeze getting through the front doors - we hired a Wren last year from another base and don't remember having this issue? The toilet needed a pump out on the Thursday of our first week and on the Tuesday of our second week - not overused, and used normally and this surprised us: we have never had this issue before as pump-outs have normally lasted a full week (is there a smaller holding tank on this boat as it does seem to be an older boat?). Externally we felt there was need of an overhaul: signs of a lot of rust on the port side of the boat and need for a complete repaint of the whole exterior as paintwork is faded as the boat externally is showing its age we felt. This is only cosmetic as everything was well maintained and we had an excellent holiday on the south Oxford and Ashby canals. These are only minor niggles. Would hire from ABC again.

The boat was very tired and we had several problems during the week. One of the pumps broke down resulting in no cold water. The hot water would not heat up without us putting the heating on! The marina staff were very helpful and even returned property that we left on the boat.

An excellent holiday once again ( our 4th year) Could not fault the boat or the marina staff who were super friendly and efficient, thanks we had a great time .
