We had a very nice holiday, enjoyed the boating and lock experience very much, the only thing I'd mention as a negative was an unpleasant smell which may have come into the cabin from the waste water tank...

This boat is perfect for us! We've booked Rodulf before, the layout suits our needs and it is a lovely boat all round. The staff at Gailey are amazing. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable and I would highly recommend this particular marina.

I think the layout could have been better. The fridge /freezer were far too small especially when you have 6 people onboard. However, the toilets were the best I've experienced on a canal boat. Apart from washing up liquid, there were no sponges, cloths or cleaning materials to ensure the kitchen was kept clean, especially in the midst of a pandemic.

The boat was excellent, clean and was exactly what we wanted for the week. I am awarding 4 stars simply because we were a group of 6 and we needed a pump-out of both toilets on the Tuesday (receipt available). This was then the case again on the Friday afternoon. There should be one pump out included in the price of the holiday. But facilities on the boat were excellent, galley not the best designed and 330MB per day is a bit stingy in today's world. I have yet to have a hire boat with an engine that is as good as a private boat, but I guess that is part of the charm. There was always hot water, but I suspect the marina did not fill up the water tank before we left as the boat was riding a little high on the Sunday morning. The lady in charge of the marina although efficient and polite was a little officious and could have been classed as rude - I have known her for 16 years so this was expected, but her manner may have annoyed some people. For example she had a bit of a go when we turned up at out appointed time of 8am on the Saturday morning to return the boat, claiming we were early we were spot on. The boat behind us (whose time was 8:15am) was early - not a word.

We thought that the boat was not thoroughly clean as we found hair bands under the beds, that were not ours. We also thought that it was not very well equiped. As we had to ask for large saucepans that we could cook for 8. No can or bottle opener. The micro wave did not work. The pizza cutter still had pizza stuck to it. Other than that we were happy with the service especially the exchange of the toilet we thought was very thorough and did not hold us up. We would book you again.

We hired the dove and our friends hired Oscar both boats had engineering problems - dove had a Inverter fault which appeared to be due to a faulty battery Oscar needed a full 2 litres of water in the header tank every day - both these problems would have been apparent during pre checks - the interiors of both boats were old and tired the curtains came off the runners when pulled - very poor

The boat was provided with "Winter" Grade Duvets in August !! Though requested, in place of the Duvets, we were told that blankets were not available. This meant that one of our crew had to sleep without a duvet and just in the minimum of light clothing and for another we had to make up the saloon bed and take down every day The Throttle/Gear lever was situated low and required you to bend down to operate. In doing so you lost forward vision - not a very good idea when approaching or negotiating the many bridges or when navigating in busy areas with a number of other boats around. We had a small problem with one of the toilets.Once reported the repair team were quickly on site and with a lot of due diligence and effort resolved the problem - Well done Guys !

Fabulous experience, boat & customer service... the only downsides were a bit of a lack of canal side facilities/locations to stop at.... and the constant clogging up of the propeller & the rudder due to the canal being heavily overgrown with plants
