Grebe contained all we needed in terms of comfort and practical use. We cooked a roast. I was pleasantly surprised to a) have heaters and b) have them be so effective so long as turned off overnight so didn’t drain battery. The wet weather gear and umbrella was appreciated cos it does get damp and cold at the tiller when weather is ****. Bed was comfy. TV and wifi all good. Do it again in a heartbeat if I lived in UK!

The boat was excellent. I think our small disappointments arose because it was not an ABC boat, (it was at Anderton because of closure of its main base), so there may have been a slight lack of interest in it by ABC staff. The briefing could have been more complete, re TV, radio, internet etc. and specifically regarding the central heating which flattened the batteries resulting in not starting next day.

Thank you for your feedback. This boat is an ABC boat but has been moved to Anderton from Reedley due to issues on the Leeds and Liverpool canal. Heating usage will have an impact on your fuel consumption, so we do advise not to leave it on unnecessarily. The WiFi on board requires a network signal, so in areas where there is little or no signal this can affect your use of the WiFi. We also encourage our customers when we send emails regarding their holiday to read our holiday guide. This is to make them aware of things such as the central heating, Wifi and electrical items on board that use the battery. We've hired from ABC before but felt that the boat was a bit under par this time. There were a few issues: No key provided for opening water tank - we bought and used pliers to do this. Water hose brass fitment was damaged and could not be tightened onto a tap and soaked the person trying to hold it on. We were saved by other boaters lending us their hose. I bought a new fitment myself in Hungerford on day 2 of the trip to solve the problem (cost £12) Fridge was faulty and froze everything in it even when turned right down. Problems with brass fitments to secure the doors at both ends of the boat. The aft washroom was smelly, not from the loo but from what seemed to be stale urine in the floor. Central heating (on some very cold nights) was pretty ineffective. It's usually much better on these boats. However, we did have a great holiday

Firstly every member of staff smiled! Makes a huge difference. All were helpful, polite, professional and pleasant throughout. The Golden Plover was spotless and contained everything needed for our 2 week break. I would highly recommended men’s ABC to anyone for honking of a narrowboat holiday

Top specification , two showers makes a lot of difference. Housekeeping was first class and the boat was spotless, even this late in the season.

We had a brilliant time on the narrowboat and this was our very first time doing this - Nigel who gave us the basic introduction was great and instills you with confidence. He was also very good at coming out so promptly to fix our gas hob, which unfortunately one of the crew (not me) had flooded! People were very helpful to us when we attempted negotiating and operating the 2 locks we went through.

Easy to book, and very easy boat collection process. However, this boat is showing its age. There was a leak in one of the vents in the kitchen ( from reading previous reports, I can see this problem has been reported months ago). The fix by the boat yard was to put a metal dog bowl over it!. The TV antenna lead was too short to be able to place the antenna outside (only way to get a picture) I pur chased some cable and connectors and made an extension lead. I left this in the boat for the next crew. Apart from these things we had a great holiday.

We do state on our website that all of our TV's and aerials are digital, and as such are able to receive digital TV signals. However, only trial and error will get it right and the results obtained can often be disappointing. We are disappointed that you had a leak from one of the vents. I have passed on your comments to the marina so they look at these issues. We are glad to hear that you still had a great holiday and hope to see you again soon.
