The boat was well maintained and everything was clean and in working order. The tuition provided was great and the binder on the boat ensured that if we forgot anything we would be able to figure it out. The phone numbers for assistance were also helpful, although we didn’t need to use them.

Really flexible in changing booking from 7 days to 5 due to closure of Leeds L pool canal. V helpful stay on the day at Anderton Marina - v efficient and friendly

It has been a difficult season for Marina's that have been affected by the unusually dry summer, with water shortages and of course the closure of the Leeds & Liverpool canal. Our customers have been fantastic and embraced changes to their bookings and their proposed routes, understanding that it is necessary for this action to be taken to preserve our amazing canals. Really organised. Lovely boat. Helpful staff. It was a new challenge getting to know how manoeuvre the boat; following maps; and learning new procedures for locks, swing bridges, using a winding hole and mooring. There was a sense of reward in learning this. It was also lovely to moor up and relax next to beautiful scenery and historic towns, where we could view the local visitor attractions and enjoy meals in some lovely venues. The holiday was very family and dog friendly. The boat was comfortable and well maintained.

On the Saturday when we went to set off the boat would not start. We eventually managed to contact the engineer who said we had flattened the batteries and talked us through how to start the engine. We cruised for approximately 5 hours the stopped for lunch. Again the boat would not start. This time we were advised to try turning the key on and off rapidly which eventually started the engine. It was arranged to meet the engineer at Braunston, unfortunately due to slow progress through the tunnel and locks we failed to connect, with no mobile reception I was unable to make contact to inform the engineer. We had a message that the engineer would be with us at 8.30am Sunday morning but we had planned to be away before that. The engine started after several turns of the ignition key and we contacted the engineer when we reached Long Buckby where it was agreed we would let the problem be sorted on our return to Gaydon. On our return the turn round guys asked if we had had any problems. Needless to say when he tried to start the engine it fired every time.

This boat was first class very well equipped, clean and tidy. Training before leaving was first class as I had never been near a narrow boat before, the staff at Whitchurch were all very helpful and couldn't do enough, would have no hesitation recommending this place and this boat. perfect little break.

It was our first time on a canal boat and the tuition the staff gave us before we set off on our own made us feel confident in being able to do everything we needed to do with the boat and locks etc. The only down side I would say was the fuel refund at the end of the holiday.I think all customers should be able to see how much fuel has been put back in the tank by being able to see the actual amount on the pump.As I feel our fuel refund was wrong and not enough! Other than that it was a lovely relaxing break.

It took us a while to get used to handling the boat. Obviously our problem. Could have possibly done with a bit more help choosing routes. Ours was possibly a bit too rural with not many places along the way to stop off.

It can take a few hours to really familiarise yourself with the boat but we are pleased to hear that you managed it in the end! It is always a good idea to purchase a map or guide before the start of the holiday to help you to choose the right route for you and your party. We booked previously, and thought the mattresses a lot more comfortable than this time. It created a difficult dynamic where other passengers did not get a good nights sleep
