Great week - loved the Black Country ring route. And the weather was kinder to us than previously! Just a small point - the drop down bed sides were awkward to move around and indeed one of our party needed to go to A and E after gashing his leg on the side on first night. When the side of the bed was up, we found making the bed and fitting the sheets difficult as they seemed rather small. However, the mattress, once in place, was comfy.

The boat was fitted out to a high standard but the only comment to be made was that the dining table was very difficult to use due to the narrow open end to access the seating against the boat side. And when the seat on the opposite side was also put into position moving between the front and back of the boat was not practical.

I am always more than satisfied and love narrow boating with abc however the last time, I had a totally ridiculously lengthy tecnical hand over bearing in mind I had said that both my assistant skipper and myself have 30 and 20 years experience respectively and that half of the adult crew had been before. I tolerated patiently out of politeness but after one hour and twenty minutes eight boats had passed and were going to take the best moorings, I asked Phil??? to go. . I had to then wait at the first lock while 8 boats went in front and then did not get to the mooring that we had wanted. This actually spoilt the weekend as we did not get down to Bath moorings and had to walk quite a way to get to the restaurant that we had booked for the Sunday evening. We did make the best of it but I would not want others to have to suffer the same fate. My assistant skipper handed the boat over at the end of the week and mentioned it to the marina staff.

Initial handover by young girl very vague. Good handover from the male employee. Some parts of boat very dirty eg blind at window (I cleaned it). Initial response at Reception very frosty but later improved. Dining area on boat very disappointing. Otherwise we had a great holiday. However, have experienced much better with other companies and would probably not return. However, very impressed with phone call after left boat re our lost property!

Originally booked our holiday for April but due to heavy rain we were unable to navigate the canal. Staff were excellent in helping us to rearrange our booking for May.

Friendly efficient service, everyone was very personable and welcoming. boat well equipped, maintained, and very clean as well as having a nice welcoming decor. Good briefing and clear instructions. very pretty scenery. brilliant. I think that my only niggle was that you were unable to brief us on friday evening - most people taking the boat for a weekend (as we were) would like to come directly from work and go off on the boat that eve - being able to have 2 people at the marina by 4pm requires people to take an extra half a day off work. The boat hire (understandably) is very costly and we wanted to make use of every evening. We had the impression you would rather have not rented the boat to us than try and accommodate us (which you finally agreed to by briefing us on the saturday (and allowing us to stay on board in the dock on the friday night... but I felt it took some persuading.) perhaps this is an area you should look at? possibly you are losing business as a consequence?

Thank you for your feedback, it is normal practice by all of our Marina's to carry out the handover on a Saturday morning if the crew are not able to arrive by 4pm on the Friday. The handover procedure can take up to 2 hours for first time boaters and our Marina's close at 5pm. We do find that where possible people will take the afternoon off work so that they can arrive by 2:30pm to make the most of their first evening. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. The boat was clean and ready for us when we arrived. My husband and I and 6 adult kids arrived in 2 cars. I was in the 2nd car arriving late due to traffic and very worried that we were barely arriving by the deadline for leaving that day. However, the staff had allowed my kids in the 1st car who had arrived almost 1 hour earlier to start loading the boat. They were also being given the boat instructions which saved us a lot of time. We had a 70' boat..giving us lots of room for 6 people, but also making it a little more challenging getting around narrow curves. It was our 3rd time on a narrow boat so we had the previous experience. I would recommend a shorter boat for those doing this for the first time.

We felt welcomed on arrival. Very helpful and informative regarding boat handover, and instruction. Boat and equipment, cutlery and crockery were spotless. The weather you booked us was fantastic !!
