Rock Dove is a boat we had hired before and found very satisfactory. This time the vessel was looking a little tired, and one or two items were missing or defective., though this did not detract from our holiday.

We had such a great experience with ABC Boat Hire — from the moment we started looking into booking right through to handing the boat back, they were absolutely spot on. The live chat team were incredibly helpful when we were deciding which marina to go from and what route might suit us best. They even helped us use our Clubcard vouchers, which was a lovely bonus! On arrival, the team at the marina were so friendly and welcoming. The induction was clear and reassuring — perfect for a group like ours, where some hadn’t been on a canal holiday in years (and a couple were complete beginners). They walked us through the boat, explained the locks and everything we’d need to know, and made sure we felt confident before setting off. We honestly couldn’t have asked for better service — professional, helpful, and genuinely kind people. Would absolutely book with them again!

We recently did the Droitwich Ring as a family of eight adults spanning multiple generations on the Aquatic Warbler — and what a great trip it was! Most of us hadn’t been on a canal holiday in years (some of us ever), but it all came back quickly. The route was absolutely lovely, offering picturesque views and just the right number of locks to keep us engaged without exhausting the crew. The Aquatic Warbler was a clever use of space, with storage solutions that impressed even the most seasoned packers among us. Admittedly, with eight adults aboard, things got a little snug — think “cozy quarters” rather than “spacious suite” — but luckily, the weather was on our side, so we could spread out on deck and make the most of the fresh air. It could have been a very different experience had it rained the whole weekend. A fair warning for anyone tempted to bring a frozen meal or two: the oven was painfully slow to cook anything especially from frozen! That aside, it was smooth sailing: loads of laughs, a few competitive lock attempts, and plenty of tea. All in all, a brilliant family experience — full of good views, great company, and a lovely way to create memories. Would definitely do it again and highly recommend for anyone looking for a different kind of family adventure!

The nice ladies behind the counter and Simon with his team at Alvechurch Marina gave us very good and pleasant welcome and service. The boat worked very well during our two weeks and helped us navigating some 120 - 130 locks.
