ABC Boat Hire: A Family Adventure with Captain Ash and Dave the Navigator We couldn't have asked for a better crew for our family day out on the water. Captain Ash, with his infectious laughter and wealth of nautical knowledge, was the perfect guide. And Dave, the navigator, kept us on course (most of the time) and made sure we didn't get lost in the vast expanse of the ocean. The kids were immediately taken with Captain Ash's pirate stories and his ability to identify different seabirds from a mile away. Dave, on the other hand, was a hit with the adults, sharing interesting facts about marine life and the history of the local area. My family and I had a brilliant day aboard the Red Robin boat. Absolutely beautiful scenery, the staff were excellent and the stop at the Star Inn was lovely. Our dog had a great day too. Would highly recommend.

It was a trip we had all anticipated eagerly, and didn't disappoint.

We were a three-generation family group, and it worked well. Teenage grandsons did the hard graft, the 21-year old and her father took the controls, and my daughter was in charge of meals. This left me with supervision and relaxation, which was ideal in view of my advanced years. Our weather was dry and just warm enough. I was surprised how few other boats we saw on an August weekend. The ABC staff we met were warm, considerate and constructive.

Clean, tidy and well equipped narrow boat that was only a few years old. Only issue was the plug in the bathroom that wouldn't stay down but was only a minor inconvenience. We booked for 2 weeks and they gave is a clean set of bedding to change after the first week, first time an ABC hire base has done this.
