The holiday was great, scenery was amazing and the weather was dry! However we had to pump out after 2 1/2 days which would indicate that it was not completely empty when we collected it. We had had a problem with the heating - there must be a leak with the water coolant as we had refill it three times - once we had purchased the anti-freeze required. Both these costs were refunded by the marina on our return.

Very friendly welcome, Roy in particular. Scenic canal. Modern well equipped boat. All lock keepers very helpful and cheerful. I can't take off a star just because it was a bit cold and wet!

Fantastic holiday! Despite the very 'British weather', this was an awesome holiday with our boat providing refuge and warmth when we needed it. 'Sigrid' (the boat) was small and perfectly formed for the 3 of us, and had everything we needed on board.

Comparing the boat to others we have hired, we were very pleased, on the whole. The kitchen was well equipped. The fridge was capacious and worked very well. The oven was also very good for a narrow boat. The storage was a tad limited, but what can you expect on a narrow boat, especially with a standard sized oven and under counter fridge? The engine was more than powerful enough - the Kennet and Avon between Hilperton and Bath has so many moored boats that you use tick-over most of the time - manoeuvring and coping with a British Waterways volunteer filling a lock quickly was a doddle. The biggest plus was how ABC boats responded to problems. The moment we reported an issue, it was dealt with; it didn't even impact on our holiday; we didn't even have to move the boat; some poor chap crossed a field four times carrying equipment to sort out our boat while we had a jolly time in Bath. The beds were also very comfortable. We shall book again.
