It was a wonderful trip on the canal, which all 3 of us and our dog enjoyed. We were so fortunate with the weather. We met many kind people who were so helpful. The boat was clean and the boatmen made sure that everything was in order before we set off on our own. We were given good advice before we started and the file on the boat with all the details of how the boat functioned was most comprehensive. We had a little previous experience. We did find making the double bed each evening a bit of a trial, as the legs for the bed/table were quite difficult to pull out. That did not detract from the overall enjoyment. Thank you.

From first enquiry, booking, handover of boat, to our return to the marina at Whitchurch, we were dealt with in a first class manner. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. As first time boaters this was greatly appreciated, and added to a fantastic holiday. We would definitely like to do another trip in the future, and would not hesitate to recommend ABC Boat Hire to anyone interested.

The layout of the boat was really user friendly. The marina was excellent . Service and attention to detail on board was super, however, the bedding could do with a new lease of life and the vacuum cleaner stank and needed a good clean - not what I want to spend my holiday weekend doing. We cleaned the floors and made the boat smell so bad that I didn’t want to use it again to hand back the boat. Otherwise a super experience which I would definitely recommend

Nobody wants to clean on a bank holiday and it's really disappointing to hear that the vacuum hadn't be emptied before your holiday. It's great that you were happy with all other aspects of your holiday and pleased with the service from Anderton Marina. It's lovely to know that you would also recommend us to your friends! Would have been 5 stars if some form of canal chart had been available. Prepared to pay for a proper one but a photocopied sketch would have done.

Maps and guides are available to buy at the time of booking as well as from our Marina's. We also give our customers the option of the ABC App which can be download to your phone and will help with route information and local amenities whilst cruising. First time boating, loved it. Boat well equipped, very clean. Could have done with a little bit more hands on 'how to' with manoeuvring the boat/locks but we worked it out in the end.

Toilet flodded boat with sewage due to the fact that one of the tanks had not been pumped out, when spoke to girl at Anderton marina for assistance was she would call back (still waiting for call). Depot we located to pump out was clsoed for day and we had to suffer the smell of raw sewage in the boat late saturday and in to Sunday where we sourced a pump out station and paid £20.00 for the service.

We were a group of 5 ladies who had never been on a barge before. We hired the Blue Rock Thrush for a long weekend break from Hilperton Marina. Before we set off, we had all watched the DVD and were given extremely thorough technical assistance at the Marina. The staff were excellent and helpful, so, by the time we set off, we felt quite confident about the whole experience. The barge was very well equipped and clean and was just perfect. We spent three days cruising the canal to Bath and back. It was a beautiful route and a lovely way to appreciate the countryside and nature which was all around us.
