The Avon Ring is an energetic route that allows you to explore Worcester, Tewkesbury, Evesham and Stratford-upon-Avon. This is a great route for those looking to explore the history of the Heart of England.
While on this route you’ll pass through Shakespeare’s birth and home place, Stratford Upon Avon. Full to the brim with culture and history, the town has plenty to do – from the UK’s largest tropical butterfly paradise to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. We recommend mooring and having a walk, taking in all this beautiful countryside town has to offer.
On this route, you’ll float along a number of waterways starting with the Worcester & Birmingham Canal. Once you reach Stratford, you’ll move to the Stratford Canal which is heavily locked. Towards the end of your journey, you’ll drift lazily along the River Severn and the River Avon both stunning bodies of water with plenty of greenery and wildlife to enjoy.
If you travel for 2 weeks you can also detour down to Gloucester with its docks, warehouses and museums. Make sure to stroll around the stunning Cathedral which is the burial place of King Edward II and was used to film Harry Potter!

The Droitwich Canals can be cruised as part of The Stourport Ring, or as a leisurely return routeby travelling down through the Tardebiugge flight to Hanbury and then turning right onto the Droitwich Canal.
