The route from Hilperton to the River Avon and back from Monday to Friday was a perfect combination of cruising, sightseeing and relaxing. We chose to get our main meals ashore each day. Monday was the Cross Guns at the Avoncliff Aqueduct - a historic pub in a stunning setting. Tuesday - The Boathouse, Bath - an excellent place to watch rowers skim the water. Wednesday was The George Inn - fascinating interior and lovely food and staff. And Thursday we had a change from pubs and stopped at the Angelfish for lunch - well worth the five minute walk along the Somersetshire Coal Canal from Dundas Aqueduct. Most of the route was straightforward cruising - one lock on Bradford-on-Avon and half a dozen in Bath to get onto the River Avon. On the river we used two locks, then moored for some reading and river swimming in a tranquil setting. I couldn't have asked for a better boat, route or weather - perfect.

I've hired many narrowboats but this was the first time from Alvechurch Boats. We got the brand new Sand Lark 66' and straight from the boatbuilders. The boat was lovely. Being new it had a few teething problems, a stiff tiller and a slack throttle lever but we managed. The only other criticism of the boat was the lack of soundproofing around the engine making it very noisy. The staff at Wrenbury Mill Marina were very nice and I'd definitely hire from them again.

Beds very comfortable and facilities good. Boats could do with an interior upgrade bit brighter. Walk in showers would be better after a long physical day lock opening some of our party found it hard getting into the shower. I hate shower curtains, shower screens cleaner and don't need laundering.

I've hired many boats but this was my first hire from Alvechurch Boats. We got the 66' Sand Lark, brand new straight from the boat builders. It was lovely. Being a new boat it had a few teething problems like the stiff tiller and a slack throttle lever but we managed. The only other criticism I have was that the engine had no soundproofing making it very noisy compared to other boats I've hired. The staff were really nice at Wrenbury Mill Marina. We had a great week and I'll definitely consider hiring from them again.

This was our 1st trip from Hilperton Marina. The staff there were brilliant - helpful, nothing was too much, they answered all of our questions and made the start of the holiday both informative and fun.

The staff were so friendly and helpful,and showed us around the boat so that we knew how to operate it.Nothing was too much trouble for them and i would highly recommend them.

As promised in brochure and informative brochures on board. They do need updating though as some of the pubs closed some years ago.
