We did the Pennine Ring. A great experience which was advertised as a 21 day trip. We had a four week trip, hoping to stop off at various locations along the way. But it became apparent that the canals are maintained on a reactive basis. We were very fortunate to get round in four weeks with various hold ups and problems developing ahead of us. We had to change onto the Huddersfield route after problems at Todmorden meant an extension to a canal closure. There were low water and lock paddle problems which meant more delays, and longer days to catch up. The stopping off at various locations didn't happen much at all. It's all part of a life on the canals, but I think you you not advertise something which is not achievable. As for the boat, very nice. We did have battery issues but the boatyard helped us get around the problem. However, we had problems too with the oven and felt the boat was perhaps getting past its best.

Great holiday! Boat was clean and fully equipped with everything we needed. Staff at Marina were quick and efficient with handover, so we were so on our way. Also hand back at end of holiday was simple and quick.

Excellent service during a difficult time. The Kennet canal however is not in very good repair and thank goodness we were not trapped with our boat when those locks broke. They need a lot of repair work

From start to finish this was a great holiday. I would recommend it to anyone. It may look expensive but if you can share the cost its very affordable.

Our booking was made relatively last minute as a result of someone else’s cancellation, and was made trouble free by the extremely helpful assistance of your staff over the telephone. Even before our arrival at the marina, we felt we were in safe hands, and we were provided with all of the information we could possibly need to make our holiday a success. The staff at the marina were friendly and efficient and very thorough in providing us with all the training we needed to confidently handle the boat. The boat itself was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well appointed in every respect. We were sad to say goodbye to it, and the lovely staff at the marina, when it came time to drive home. We can’t wait to do it all again!

A brilliant family holiday. We all loved sharing the experience of driving the barge and handling the locks. The Llangollen trip was so tranquil and pretty .

I and my group of 6 had a wonderful holiday aboard Grasshopper Warbler which was very clean and well equipped. The team at Gayton were so helpful, very kind and considerate. I had called the marina the week before to say that there was a possibility I may have had to leave my holiday early due to a family emergency. On my arrival Zoe gave me a prepared list of all the bridges with postcodes and gave me taxi numbers in the event I had to call a taxi and return home. Our group have no hesitation in giving the Gayton team the highest praise.
