Really enjoyed our first narrowboat experience! Lovely boat well equipped with comfortable beds and generous bathroom. The countryside was beautiful and it was such a relaxing experience given the slow pace of travel and the opportunity to be outside working the boat and walking the canal side. Lots of lovely pubs and places to visit along the way.

Lovely boat. Relaxed cruising. Some fantastic weather and scenery. A week of totally chilling out.

The boat was clean and well laid out. The only complaint if there was one regarding the boat and that was to have a bench across the back near the tiller. Other boats I have hired have had this and is why I chose the cruiser stern layout

Loved every minute. As it was our first time on a canal boat there were some nerves around how we would handle it but these were soon dispersed after the induction from one of your team members. Everyone at ABC were very helpful and we are looking forward to doing it all again next year

Boat very good - only slight drawback is that it is a very busy canal with limited good moorings which was an issue when you have limited mobility i.e. not able to jump off onto tricky banks to moor and have to use the gangplank for access

Overall I really enjoyed our 7 days on a canal boat starting from Falkirk but here are a few areas that weren’t so good: At handover we weren’t told that there was a flap under the double bed that would make it a less squashed. We worked this out after one night but it would have been useful to know. -I didn’t like that ALL our water from the boat (shower water, sink water, washing up) goes straight into the canals. Only grey water goes into a tank. At the very least it would have been good to be warned so we could bring biodegradable shampoos, soap etc to try to limit the damage to the waterways. Also the washing up liquid and spray provided on the canal boat should also be biodegradable. - No mention was made in advance that locks on the Forth & Clyde need to be booked 48hrs in advance, this was quite a shock so should be made very clear. In reality it wasn’t too much of a hassle but at one point we wanted to cancel the booking for kick opening, as we decided to stay put, for an extra day but my text message and voicemails using the number on the map to cancel apparently didn’t make it through so we annoyed the volunteers. -one of the water points marked on the map of the Union Canal was private and we were shooed away by a woman when we tried to fill up there..

The boat was well appointed with good quality kitchen ware . Curtains and flooring were all immaculately clean. All wood panelling was in excellent condition with no scratches or scuff marks. The beds are narrow but that I assume cannot be improved.

Thank you for your feedback. We do offer certain boat classes with the option of wider beds, you can check which boats have this added feature on our website or by contacting our Booking Office team. We hope to welcome you back again soon!

Excellent marina (Wrensbury) with lovely helpful staff. Good narrowboat (Slender Bill Gull) but a couple of small issues could have been better. 1-Mid bathroom shower pump had to be operated manually with finger pressing on button which was remote from the shower! Meant getting out of the shower a couple of times to reach the button to pump out the filling shower basin and then returning to the shower which would fill up again! 2-The can opener was knackered and we could not open a tin of tuna. Also some of the kitchen knives needed sharpening. 3- The front tie rope was a bit too short. 4-From the start we began to notice a bit of vibration and sluggish responsiveness of the tiller and the engine seemed to be straining. After a couple days we inspected the propshaft and found a 6ft length of thick (approx 3/4" dia) black plastic edge seal wrapped around the propshaft which would have interfered with efficient operating of engine and propellor and steering to some extent.)

Thank you for your feedback, which we have forwarded to the marina. We do ask customers to check the weed hatch daily to ensure that nothing is caught around the propellor as this will impact the efficiency of the engine and steering of the boat. We are delighted to hear that you found our team at Wrenbury helpful and we hope to welcome you again soon!
