Excellent marina (Wrensbury) with lovely helpful staff. Good narrowboat (Slender Bill Gull) but a couple of small issues could have been better. 1-Mid bathroom shower pump had to be operated manually with finger pressing on button which was remote from the shower! Meant getting out of the shower a couple of times to reach the button to pump out the filling shower basin and then returning to the shower which would fill up again! 2-The can opener was knackered and we could not open a tin of tuna. Also some of the kitchen knives needed sharpening. 3- The front tie rope was a bit too short. 4-From the start we began to notice a bit of vibration and sluggish responsiveness of the tiller and the engine seemed to be straining. After a couple days we inspected the propshaft and found a 6ft length of thick (approx 3/4" dia) black plastic edge seal wrapped around the propshaft which would have interfered with efficient operating of engine and propellor and steering to some extent.)

Thank you for your feedback, which we have forwarded to the marina. We do ask customers to check the weed hatch daily to ensure that nothing is caught around the propellor as this will impact the efficiency of the engine and steering of the boat. Boat was fine but we were advised to top up water every day or so but incredibly difficult to find water stations. We also would have appreciated more advice about the limitations of turning points for a 3 night trip. This aggravated by the need to return the boats facing towards Newbury. It would really help if you removed that requirement which is plain irritating when returning from Newbury direction. Staff waiting to clean boats on our return were all arguing with each other and a little to eager to get on board as we were unloading.

It would have been 5 but on the first night we discovered there was only 2 large towels and 2 small towels for 4 adults and 2 children, leaving us no choice but to buy more the next day

We had the most lovely experience, staff were amazing and very very helpful from start to finish. Our only criticism is that the boats are rather out dated. Particularly the TV's not worth having as they did not work. No one uses DVD's any more. Also incredibly hot and nothing to ease this. We also believe you should have a luxury choice of boats.

Lovely boat, could have been cleaner. Equipment was like a 1980s caravan, but functional (steel teapot for example - bit roadside Caff...) Staff, especially the yard lads, really friendly and helpful. Tip - get a GPS on your phone and find the max speed - its a lot less throttle than you think, we wasted a lot of fuel from our own stupidity.
