Great trip we were novices, very slow check in and waiting around to be shown the ropes. Very friendly helpful staff. Good facilities on board, barge looking a little tired.

An absolutely fantastic break - a week at no more than 4mph was so refreshing for us both. First time for me on a narrowboat - and it was so much more interesting than the Norfolk Broads (which we had done before). We will be back - for a longer trip possibly. Only one minor problem - it took us a couple of days to notice that the fridge was left at it's (lowest / warmest) setting - practically off. Once we had fixed that, then the milk stayed fresh and all was good. We needed to use the "emergency callout" on the last day as the engine wouldn't start - but were calmly and sensibly talked through getting it going - and were underway again within minutes.

Our instructor wasn’t particularly knowledgeable about our boat and failed to tell us about the water key which was not on the main key ring but on a shelf in the cabin, we only found it at the end of the holiday. He told us we could only get water st marinas rather than at the public points.The forward cabin on the port side of the bed there was a strong smell from the toilet by the window.

Lovely little boat. Easy to handle for first timers. Just enough space inside for sleeping and storage. Very well stocked kitchen.

The boat is old and showing its age. Compared with other hire boats seen on the canal Laughing Gull was looking pretty scruffy. There is an issue with smell in the front cabin emanating from the forward waste tank.

Excellent service but barge was very dated, single beds far too narrow for an adult male. Lounge area far too cramped for 4 adults

arrival procedure simple - boat ready, clean and sorted - great staff dispatching - great time had by all on boat - easy and streamlined departure.

Initial boarding at the marina proved difficult for my husband with the obstructive path. The grill on the gas cooker proved awkward to light and on 2 occasions exploded through the opening singeing the hair on our arms! Dissapointed very few pubs with gardens alongside the canal.

Boat was immaculately clean. Everything was there in the kitchen that was needed. Lovely pillows and duvets. Handover staff were helpful and informative. Only criticism would be the small size of the toilet, but we are larger sized people!

Always clean, well equipped boats and excellent service. Only downside was the boat was showing its age with a few niggling faults

We arrived at 1330 registered our arrival, informed the Boat was still being cleaned. Did the walk through with a Lady from the Office after 1430, the fact that we have hired from ABC 6 times in the past 6 Years & one of those an Eagle Boat, should maybe have adjusted the intro tour ( I know what a passageway Door is). Then waited our turn for the Mechanical Intro which was very Good especially as the Man had a Trainee in Tow. We eventually left the Marina at 1630.

Thank you for your feedback, which we will forward to the marina. We do ask customers to allow up to 2 hours from the stated arrival time of 2:30pm for our team to complete the handover process. We understand that it can be frustrating if you are a seasoned boater but certain information does need to be covered regardless of experience.
