A thoroughly enjoyable holiday from a well-run boatyard

We were novices boating in October. We enjoyed the trip but found it quite stressful we needed the 4 adult crew to cope sometimes as the canal was congested near the cities The Info/handover ahead of trip and on day was good. The boat was well maintained. Bedding is decent and boat is well equipped. Wifi is OK but you can’t send photos we found not sure you could work on board. The wifi is Data limited check ahead if you need good access. The cleanliness of the boat was average the vacuum was dirty and full when we tried to use it, we found fruit under a bed maybe it was just a quick handover but given Covid the process needs improvement. It’s a busy canal. We found many of the moorings were taken up by winter moorings in the cities meaning we could not moor up where we’d planned and in fact we were so far out one night we cancelled our restaurant and elected to return early to the marina rather than risk not finding mooring for the last night. We did have a 69ft boat it’s fair to say. A small boat may not have this issue. The team were helpful and fuel refund was prompt. This marina has a shop, garage and fish and chip place near the parking compound. The processes for car security and access out of hours work well. We felt the lack of specifics on finding water points led to more stress than necessary those details could be better. Beautiful scenery at this time of year.

Overall a great holiday, with a fine working boat, and very friendly and helpful staff. The handover at the marina could have been a bit more efficient. There were several groups arriving at once, but with Covid restrictions we had to wait for others to complete first. Having to return the boat at 9:00am on our return seemed a bit early. And the boat itself, while perfectly clean was a little dated, particularly the dining table to double bed conversion. Nothing that stopped the enjoyment of the holiday, just some ideas for improvement.

The service on arrival was very friendly and understanding the situation with COVID-19 restrictions, all was explained in depth regarding the contact distances, all very well informed, well done Whitchurch Mariner . Excellent boat very well equipped and warm lovely time thank you ABC. Looking forward to next holiday buy for now .

A 3-night weekend break was an excellent introduction to canal boating. The boat was very well fitted out, the staff at Whitchurch Marina were very helpful and the canal itself provided beautiful autumn scenery

Great company to go with - staff so lovely and boats comfy,especially the bedding!!! Very well equipped and a good time to go on the canal, as not too busy.
