The boat was spotless on collection. Katie on reception ran through everything with us and explained the locks and how they worked. Paul completed the handover and showed us all the daily checks we needed to complete. On returning the boat I left some maps in a cupboard and didn't realise until I had returned home, I phoned Katie and she found them and posted them to me. A big thumbs up to a fantastic team at Whitchurch.

It was our seconded barge trip with ABC boat hire and what a fantastic break away yet again. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful, the barge was very clean and well presented and the cannel was absolutely stunning. 5 stars all round

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday on Pine Warbler. It was our first experience on a narrowboat and it was daunting to begin with due to the size of the boat but it was a lovely boat. It took us all a little time to get used to steering and handling the boat but once we did it was great fun. Operating the locks was straightforward with usually a fellow boater or lock keeper on hand with useful advice.

The Marina was very efficient at pick up and return. Staff friendly and very helpful. Handover instructions were very clear and we were greeted and welcomed on return. The boat was well equipped and very comfortable. Highly recommended!

Their were only four people on board and we all found the beds uncomfortable. Other than the beds we had a wonderful holiday it was everything we expected, and the four days went too quickly and wish we had hired it for longer.

We loved our holiday on Archers Lark. The boat was immaculate, the organisation was excellent and the trip itself was through beautiful scenery and countryside with some excitement in passing over the aqueducts on our route

We had a great week. Very happy with the boat, onboard facilities and especially Simon at Alvechurch Marina who was the most calm, reassuring, helpful and friendly presence both before and after our week afloat. Our first experience of canal boating and it has certainly given us an appetite for more. Happy to recommend ABC. Minor irritations were the marina being short-staffed on our arrival meaning we only got 1 hour cruising on the first day, and the unreliable wifi onboard.

Good boat, steering could have been more responsive but was manageable. Had one issue with the seating area which was broken and it took a couple of calls to get it repaired, as answerphone message left wasn't responded to - once we managed to talk direct to a person the repair was quickly made. Would have been helpful to have some wooden spoons among the inventory, and a scourer.

We had an excellent holiday. The staff at Ellesmere boatyard were all excellent and very helpful. We only had one issue - the cooker didn't work but we cooked using the rings and grill; so no real problems there. I'm looking forward to the next boat trip, starting tomorrow from Anderton Marina.

Nothing is ever perfect enough for five stars. Downside, the boat was draughty especially around the side and rear hatches. Big gaps let in the cold air, so the boat was very chilly at night though the heater did warm quickly in the morning. The double beds had a ridge down the middle (two singles together) this and the draught made for uncomfortable nights sleeping. Upside, spacious galley to work in, very hot water, lots of towels and bedding. On the whole a good time although this will probably be our last boating holiday as it is getting too expensive for us (and our bones need a bit more comfort).
