This was our 1st holiday on a narrowboat. From handover on our 1st day to returning on our final day we could not fault the service we received or the boat. The marina staff from start to finish couldn't have been more helpful. The boat met all our expectations and we will certainly return and recommend ABC boat hire.

I hired 2 boats for a weekend from Union Wharf Marina, Market Harborough. The boatyard staff I met were all very friendly & helpful. The handover & paper work was done quickly and efficiently. Would definitely hire from here again and can highly recommend the Spotted Eagle boat for a party of six adults. The boat has a rear kitchen galley & dinette and this is my preferred layout of all the boats I have hired.

This is a lovely boat yard, very vlose to the motorway and lots of routed available to cruise. The boat was very cumphy and had lots of great facilities.

A good reception and good handover by Chris. Generally a good experience. Couldn't get the radio to work particularly well, although that's more likely a function of the geography!

The Appearance of the exterior of the boat looked rather shabby. Although I rated handover as good & marina as average I was not asked on arrival where we were going. Although I did ask on handover if I could turn the boat at Loughborough Basin which he didn’t know .We only got as far as Thurmaston & had to turn round due the floods we where then stuck at Aylestone for two days. It appears the flooding had been on for a few days before we departed ! Some of The locals we met said they had not seen flooding like it for a few years. So this has to have been my shortest canel holiday ever.

On the whole the Boatyard & boat itself were good - just a couple of minor points that prevented the 5th star. 1) The boatyard staff were excellent and very helpful when we had to have a repair done later in our journey - our only complaint was that they failed to tell us that the Aldermaston bridge is closed twice a day for an hour. The CRT website just says 'try not to use' during those hours wheras in fact you cannot use. This caught us out coming back which could have been an issue for one of our party who needed to get off for work. Luckily the yard was close enough for him to walk back to. We would have made sure we could have got through had we known. 2) We had a 12 berth boat - it was the only one available at our preferred yard for our dates- & overall the facilities were excellent. However we were a party of 7 so didn't need the extra bunks.Pictures on the website suggested the top bunks would fold away when in fact on our boat they were fixed. As people 'of a certain age' this proved a bit difficult especially as we had to deal with sleeping bags as well (boats I have hired elsewhere have always provided duvets so this came as a surprise too.) In future i will know to ask but this could have been a problem Is it possible to have some sort of gauge to check the level of water available? As water was tricky to get on our route this would have been useful so we could see if we did have enough for showers or not. Overall we had an excellent time, despite the appalling weather - and would certainly use ABC Boats again. Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I have forwarded your comments to the Marina to ensure they are advising all guests about the timings at Aldermaston Bridge. We are sorry if there was any confusion with the bunks on the Swan Class boat, they are fixed, which makes them suitable for both adults and children. We do have fold down singles on other boat classes but these have a weight restriction and are really only suitable for children. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your holiday and we look forward to welcoming you again in the future!

Certain items on the boat not working. Very surprised that we only received £5 back for unused fuel, as we were only doing a local run.

Thank you for your review, the Marina have confirmed that two of the interior lights were not working and this has now been rectified. The majority of the fuel used at this time of year is for heating and this may be why you used more this holiday compared to previous hires.
