Overall an excellent experience only let down by WiFi problems and a faulty water pump giving a variable shower temperature

Mechanically the boat worked well. The heating system was inefficient, one radiator not working and the other two struggled to raise the temperature. The radio did not work. The TV remote control had faulty enter and scroll buttons rendering the set inoperative. WiFi did not work after first day. Intermittent spotlight over table. Some indicators missing on engine control panel.

I loved the boat, which was very well equipped. The staff were lovely

Excellent narrowboat. Efficient friendly and helpful marina staff. Falkirk wheel was impressive and the Kelpies were simply stunning. The Scottish Canals staff were great especially the volunteers who helped us through the fourteen locks down to the Kelpies in record time as we wanted to do the Kelpies internal tour before they closed that day.

I cooked for the first 8 days of our holiday, roasts, ect and found that the kitchen was very well equipped, the shower was very acceptable, the heating was perfect for the varied weather that we had, it kept us warm and toasty after getting wet through, have to say that the wet suits let the water through, but there was an umbrella, we had a most enjoyable holiday, the welcome tea, coffee and biscuit was a lovely touch, all in all a very well equipped boat, and will be using them again in 2021. thank you.

The boat was old and a bit dated. The heating didn't work very well and not at all at the end of our trip.

Thank you for your feedback. We do advise customers to contact the marina if they are experiencing any technical problems with their boat, as in most cases the problem can be resolved over the phone. We hope you enjoyed your holiday over all and we hope we will be able to welcome you again in the future.

Boat well equipped and comfortable. Good weather made the weekend perfect

The service from start to finish was excellent. Dropped a star only because the boat is a little care-worn now. Didn't interfere with our enjoyment though.

Mattresses seemed old, very well used, too soft & quite uncomfortable. WiFi lasted less than 3 days (which wasn't the case when we hired from ABC last year) - very disappointing. Crockery, toaster & microwave all low quality. Engine OK but an oily/smoky smell when standing at the rear/on the tiller. Otherwise the reverse layout of the boat was good & we enjoyed ourselves.

Three of us were on board and two dogs - we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday but it could've been even better. I am just under 1m 50cm tall. Because of my lack of height, I was unable to steer the boat, as I couldn't see and I was very disappointed. I was really looking forward to doing so. I would suggest a minimum height of 1m 70cm is required to comfortably steer the boat. Also, a certain amount of strength and leverage is required to manoeuvre and turn Sanderling especially when using the pole. I am pretty strong, but because I'm short, I have very little leverage. I think it is essential to have on board Sanderling, at least one tall, very strong person. I would suggest that this is highlighted when a booking is made. We had no TV signal. We only had WiFi connection from Monday afternoon - Wednesday afternoon, as when we tried to login, it stated that the Sandering WiFi had expired. This is a Scottish Canals issue, but ABC Boats is a customer too, so I thought I'd make some suggestions about the Skipper's Guide Forth & Clyde and Union Canals, for you to pass on. The guide was very useful, but inaccurate and needs to be updated. The turning point where we turned, just before Port Buchan Basin, should've been 27 metres. Sanderling is approx. 18.5 metres long. When we turned, we had approx, one metre to spare, making it approx. 20 metres and not the stated 27 metres. The mooring sites also need to be updated, as many are not indicated on the guide. I just want to re-iterate that we had a great time and hope my comments are useful to future customers.
