There were numerous, minor, 'issues' which would not warrant a 5 star rating, otherwise it was a good boat. 1) There was no inventory provided beforehand and we were not told what items (normally provided) were not being provided due to Covid 19 measures. These included place mats and foil and cling film - we could have brought these if known. 2) The fridge was not of a suitable standard. We were told beforehand that we could not put large items (eg 4 pints of milk in the door) otherwise it would break the support rail and fall out. This is a silly and unacceptable design fault. It is essential that the fridge door is capable of holding opened bottles of milk, wine and fruit juice and the rail should be strong enough to hold such in place when opened - there is NO reason why this should not be the case. Also, they were so small in height that things like cheese slipped under them. Again no reason why they had to be like this. 3) The toilet doors where slightly warped and they were difficult to open/close - one of them was particularly bad and really had to be pulled very hard to shut. 4) The coat hangers were just too large for the 'cupboards' and one was forever having to angle them all slightly before being able to shut the door.

With only 2 inexperienced people on board it was harder work than anticipated. Heating was intermittent

ABC were very good and efficient when we had to rearrange our holiday due to lockdown. Handover was efficient. THe handbook they had provided was very comprehensive. Boat was in reasonable order though was suffering from some wear and tear after a busy summer.

A relaxing and enjoyable week on Astrid on the Oxford canal. Astrid was well equipped and warm. There was enough space for 4 adults and even when one person wanted to read or do something quietly on their own. The frequency of the the locks and then stopping for food shops or for the pub, meant it kept us active and busy for the week.

For the first time in over 20 years we ventured back out to the canals. Our experience was enhanced by the fantastic weather and gave us the break needed in these harrowing times.

The battery on the boat went almost flat every morning, meaning that the stove, heating, microwave and toilet could not be operated until the engine had been run for some time to charge

The boat was fairly new to the fleet but had design faults that slightly inhibited the use of the centre rope as the multi directional aerial and the radio aerial were situated between the centre fixing and the rear cockpit so it was impossible to flick the rope from side to side. On later questioning it appeared that this was noted but not actioned as a second centre rope would have solved the problem. Otherwise the boat was very good.

An enjoyable week on a comfortable boat. Well-equipped, apart from the absence of a frying-pan — an oversight rather than a deliberate policy, we hope! The marina staff were friendly and professional, as was the overall ABC operation during the run-up to the holiday.
