Beautiful canal with plenty of places to stop and eat and explore. Very rural so very peaceful. The canal is shallow in places so slow going in places but why rush.

As the boat wasn't out we were offered an early pickup. Smooth pickup and return. All was good with the boat except we set off without a kettle, someone was sent out immediately to meet us at the next bridge.

Kennett and Avon Canal is beautiful. Destinations on route are interesting and accessible from the Canal.

The staff at the marina were friendly and helpful. The handover procedure was smooth and we were given useful advice The boat was in excellent condition and ran reliably throughout. The only downside was that we were unable to complete our planned route due to some locks being closed. While this was not ABC's doing, we felt the information could have been communicated directly or put on the app. Staff were able to warn us in advance of a motorway closure on the day of arrival, which was helpful. The additional information would have been useful too.

The booking and payment clear and efficient. Good contact from the office in advance of trip.. The boat was immaculate. Handover was efficient, and comprehensive. The boat side steam were brilliant in every respect. Handbook very useable. Boat equipment was very good - kitchen knives were sharp and recently honed, and the tin opener opened tins , and the corkscrew uncorked wine!! Tese three teams are, for me, a barometer of any self catering resource.. At the end, hand over back to ABC Nantwich was smooth, and we had a nice surprise of a part refund on our fuel. The folk here are doing an excellent job. thank you. I should also mention ABC Wrenbury Mill who were also helpful when we were stuck at a faulty electric bridge

ABC themselves were good. We spoke a lot via email before booking- we were advised to get a different boat to fit all of us together (6 adults, 1 kid and 1 baby) so ended up paying more and had a 10 birth boat when we could have fit on the smaller 8 birth boat which would have been much easier to drive and saved money so that was a bit annoying. The biggest boat is obviously very long and is hard to manuver as a first time driver. There is lots of info on the app for before you arrive but we still didn’t really know what to expect. We arrived, had a small safety video and demo of a lock and were shown the boats features. I feel we could have benefited from a go on the boat with someone who knew what they were doing before we were left alone. The boat was freezing cold in the night as we were told not to leave the heating on overnight. The boat isn’t fully airtight so lots of gaps where cold and wind can get in. The double beds in the middle of the boat are not doubles at all- only a large single and another single which pull out but there is a gap and they are not on the same level. Not comfy and squeak a lot. No way we could see how much water we had left so that was a worry. The boat was huge and the wind was really bad the weekend we went out and we were not warned about it. It made it very hard and we kept drifting into the side of the canal and another boat. We didn’t know what to do and were just told to go faster on the phone. The boats are very very narrow making anyone who’s not stick thin feel quite cramped and are not good for anyone tall. It was fun but route we used there was lots of locks and they are hard work so be prepared. My advice if you have not done it before, go in summer for just one night with only a few small adults on board- a small boat and wrap up warm at night.
