all my previous preconceptions about a canal boat holiday were satisfied, however after a week on the narrow boat I found the confined spaces on the boats getting on my nerves

Union Wharf was a good place to start from. We appreciated being able to start a little earlier as that enabled us to get through Foxton locks on the first day. We had planned, using the 2017 brochure, to go to the Ashby canal. It would have been helpful if it had correctly reflected the daily cruising time and number of locks involved in this but we did make it. The boat was perfect for 2 of us and our dogs. The canals were all good without the pressure on mooring we have found on other canals.

As first time boaters, we didn't realise what was involved but the tuition given prior to us leaving was very thorough and very helpful. We loved our holiday, it was so peaceful and everyone we met was so friendly.

Three generations of my family had a fabulous weeks holiday. The wonderful weather helped. We were not over ambitious, but the fresh air and peace and quiet were a big factor in helping us all to relax.the younger ones did some cycling and running. Most days we had lunch on board and on 4 evenings went to the pub. A day in Bath was enjoyed by all and Bradford on Avon was lovely too. The team at Hilperton were very friendly and helpful the handovers went very smoothly. A big thank you to them!

We had a lovely holiday, lovely boat, clean and tidy. Friendly staff at the marina. Have hired a day boat from Hilperton and the staff were good and friendly that time too.

Very well organized at the Rugby Warf, they made us welcome and swiftly moved thru the on-hire paper work and details. The boat was very clean, everything worked. We had a great time and I wholeheartedly would recommend this type of holiday to anyone who wants a bit of an adventure.........but not too much of an adventure.

The boat and the staff at ABC were excellent, we just wish they had told us to go to the Kelpies before the Falkirk wheel, had we gone the opp way round we could probably have sailed to Edinburgh, cos once you have seen the Kelpies there is not much to do down there. As it was we were booked onto the wheel first, but we would highly recommend that the Kelpies is the first port of call.

The Marina staff at Falkirk book everyone into the queue for the Wheel on the day of arrival to ensure that they have a place but you aren't tied to this and can choose to go to the Kelpies. You may have been advised to go to Edinburgh first because of restrictions coming back through the wheel and to make sure you would be able to bring the boat back on time. We would always advise calling the Marina before the start of your holiday if you would like route information in advance. We hope you will be back for another holiday with us again soon!

The Golden Eagle felt new with all the mod cons, two toilets & showers that worked well for us and the 3 grandchildren. Being first time boaters and Aussies in the UK the Collins/ Nicholson Guide was a life line for confidence. A couple of folding camp chairs and a large shade umbrella would have been handy or available for hire had we know the weather was so hot last week.

Second time I have used this canal hire company and enjoyed the same superb service. The boat was great and everything worked as it should. Needed their help on the second day and got advice on the out-of-hours number and then full resolution the following day. Professional, courteous and efficient booking staff, shop staff, cleaners and engineers. Highly recommended.
