This was such a fantastic trip, from the moment we booked it’ was such an easy process, turned up and the staff were very friendly and helpful and wanted to get us straight out on the water. We were a group of 5 adult males and had no issues with us all fitting on a 6 birth boat called bamboo partridge. One of the newer boats, it was perfect, had everything we needed. The trip down the canal and back was amazing, very relaxing and enjoyable. The community on the canal was great, having conversations that lasted the time it took to pass each other. A great experience and one I will be doing again without doubt.

We arrived at 1.30pm where we were shown to our boat “Bamboo Partridge” and we quickly loaded it up with all our gear. After a tour of the boat, introduction on how to use it and a talk through the lock situation, we were off on our way, Traveled for around three hours and pull up for the night. Lovely and peaceful. Cooked dinner on board. Set off in the morning and headed for the aqueduct. Made it in good time, even with stops on the way. Arrived back at the marina the following day. Job done, a very easy process for a great trip.

As holiday progressed a few faults with the boat came to light. These were swiftly rectified by staff at Gayton marina. Boat well equipped. Efficient handover.

The whole trip was lovely. The River Severn was amazing. A few closed pubs along the canal but lovely scenery. Limited fishing available.

Staff were very knowledgeable and took the time explaining the boat layout. Offered apps and maps to make our journey easier. This was our first narrowboat trip., great experience, will definitely book again.

ABC Boat Hire were extremely helpful and service-minded throughout. The journey gave us many memorable experiences and was a wonderful way to explore the canal. However, navigating through all the locks involves a considerable amount of physical work, so this is not the holiday for anyone expecting to spend the whole trip lying on the foredeck sipping drinks!
