Would be 5 stars but the behaviour of many private boaters is becoming hard to bear. They seem to treat hirers as a sub species and many of them are rude. They complain about our speed when we ALWAYS pass moored boats on tickover. They moor on lock and bridge landings and in winding holes and try to order us about at locks.

Overall good but ... we had 2 bathrooms for 5 people for 1 week and by the end of the week 1 toilet tank was full and smelled. We had a problem with the propeller being tangled in wire at 4.50 pm and was told someone would phone next morning around 8.30 to arrange someone to come and help. Luckily grandson persevered for 2 and a 1/2 hours to clear the wire, otherwise we would have had to travel all day the next day to catch up on time lost.

We had an excellent time on the Llangollen canal, travelling to Llangollen and back. The boat performed faultlessly with all "mod cons".

The whole experience was fantastic, right from booking through to returning the boat. This was our fifth trip with ABC but the first time we had been from March Marina through Fox Narrowboats. Gavin did a fantastic handover, explained everything very well and shared his local knowledge with us. So helpful. Boat was clean and well stocked. We were slightly nervous as this was out first time using ABC but via another company. Didn’t need to be, excellent service. Staff at the Marina really friendly, would highly recommend them.

Great holiday. Boat well prepared. Friendly staff at marina. We were put at ease regarding the boat and our previous experience. Some parts of the Llangollen canal challenging but don't be put off. Try it.

Service was good, boat was clean and ran well. We collected from Aldermaston (Kennet and Avon canal) and planned to go as far as Windsor and return in our 6 days' holiday. This canal has quite a few locks and 3 road swing bridges between Aldermaston and Reading and is not best suited to first timers as we were at the time! We managed well as we met very experienced narrowboaters at the first lock (many thanks Peter and Janet) who shared the locks and their experience through to Reading. We went as far as Henley, moored for two nights and went to Windsor by train as if we had cruised there we would not have had time to visit the castle. Overall a great holiday but would not recommend this canal for first timers - choose a canal with fewer locks and swing bridges!

Friendly and helpful welcome. Detailed information and instructions for handling the boat and how to refill the water supply. The boat was in a clean and tidy condition, and all equipment worked satisfactorily. The web site provided videos and printouts on canal rules, boat information operating locks etc. Would not hesitate to use them again.

Fun and relaxing trip on the canal. Wish there were more boater-friendly pubs. Some were very short hours that they served food.

Great experience, great service and very friendly staff. Everything was very well organised. The boat was clean and we had everything you need on board exactly as described on the website. Relaxing short trip I would definitely do again.
