ABC canal boat rental was great. They really helped us learn the boat and the condition and function of their boats are tops, excellent. Absolutely great experience. The travel, sights and fun on the canal in this cute boat was #1 tops.

From initial contact, through the booking process, handover training and on to the safe retur. the ABC team were phenomenal! The boat itself was clean, well equipped and perfect for 6 adults (although formally an 8 berth, the extra 2 would need to be children or very small adults!). The nature of a narrow boat means it's very cosy and so long as you're good friends that's not a problem! The trip we made was from Aldermaston to Newbury via Woolhampton. Just the right amount of sailing per day to be manageable and still make stops for refreshments! I would definitely recommend ABC and the Aldermaston team.

Hired a 58' narrowboat for 7 nights and loved every minute. The team at Kings Orchard Marina were fantastic. Big thankyou to Lee for showing us the boat and controls. Wouldnt hesitate to hire another in the future.

ABC is a tops operator, clean and perfectly functioning boats. We had lots of fun on our canal boat trip to Bath and back.

The only down side was that it rained all the day on the Thursday, but the waterproofs where excellent - remember to take wellies next time.

Positives: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The boat was clean and well stocked. Staff took us through the basics of steering, mooring etc. Beautiful scenery, quiet and not too much traffic. Negatives: we had great difficulty turning the boat around, we had not been instructed and only managed it due to the patience and help of another boat owner, who talked us through the process, ie turn the engine off and use the poles. There were not many mooring places with access to facilities eg eateries. As we were not able to set off until 4pm on the Friday, we only had just over 2 hours before dark and had to stop in the middle of nowhere! Fortunately we had some food with us. Returning the boat at 9am is impractical so we returned it the day before, hence we only had 2 nights instead of 3.

The boat could have been cleaner, the WiFi didn’t work once, the sink leaked and a curtain guard had a sharp edge in the bedroom, so passing it was awkward.
