The boat provided was beautiful and well equipped. However it became apparent immediately that we were delivering a boat on behalf of the company from Alvechurch to Gayton and it was a very challenging route. Which was not pointed out at the time of booking. We had 2 draw bridges a swing bridge and 78 locks including the Hatton flight of 21 locks. We were against the clock and constantly checking our miles and timing to get to the destination on time. This was intended to be a chilled relaxing holiday however we had no time to stop off and view some of the beautiful areas we passed it was very much like a working holiday. We felt very let down by the company.

We do not advertise One Way Moves on our website which means you would have received an email stating that this boat was a one way move and was a delivery of a boat from Boat building/Alvechurch to Gayton Marina. We apologise if you feel you were mislead regarding the details of the One Way Move but do thank you for taking Kentish Plover to our Gayton Marina. We look forward to welcoming you onboard soon :)

The friendly, helpful staff at Whitchurch Marina went out of their way to make sure we had a great holiday. Boat was very well prepared and presented and we had a textbook trip from the marina to Llangollen and back.

We chose a 49ft 4 berth for our short break. We found this to be perfect for two adults & our dog. The central heating worked really effectively and soon warmed the boat. The shower was surprisingly good. If I could fault the boat in any way it would be that because it was a brand new boat the seating was very firm, not very comfortable. And the kitchen cupboards were set out so there were items already in every cupboard, none were empty for us to put our things into. This only took a few minutes to rectify. We needn’t have worried about the locks at Stoke Breurne as CRT had volunteers in attendance to help us through. We had the best time and would definitely recommend ABC boat hire.

ABC were extremely helpful given that we were originally booked onto the Kennet & Avon Canal, but because of strong flows, the canal was effectively closed. They made it very easy for us to transfer our booking onto the Llangollen Canal. The boatyard, when we arrived were very welcoming and helpful. It was also clear from an incident that happened at the end of our holiday (but didn't affect us personally) when the lift bridge just by the boatyard failed, that they had effective alternative arrangements in place to deal with the boats, even though they were the wrong side of the bridge. Both of the above give us strong confidence in ABC as a company, and we hope to use you again soon.
