I have been renting canal boats for about 50 years now and always enjoyed the experience. This last time we had a very new boat and it had a feature that takes time to understand. The power control was not the normal linear movement. I had D-detent that set a cruise speed of about 2 miles and hour ( less than walking pace). It was quite difficult to regulate the speed going into a lock or mooring. It was therefore necessary to move the drive into neutral and then back into drive. We got used to this in the end but I would have preferred the original design.

ABC we’re brilliant from start to finish - super easy booking process with lots of info and a brilliant induction on the boat when we arrived. Boat was clean and well equipped, and we had a great weekend. Super simple handover once we got back to the harbour. Couldn’t recommend enough!

The service was excellent! The boat was spotless and well equipped. Our instructor was professional and helped ensure we felt confident and safe before we left. Sarah had a nice sense of humour as well. Checking in and out were simple, quick and pleasant. The trip 4 day trip from Ellesmere to Llangollen was fun, a bit of a challenge and thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks ABC for helping create some wonderful memories!
