Route (Aldermaston to Windsor and return) was excellent; especially cruising on the Thames. There were numerous problems with the boat: - Rudder blade had been bent, which made steering heavy and caused bearing at top of rudder post to fail. - Problem starting engine (cranking battery); even after linking cranking and domestic batteries beneath the decking. Intermittent. - Shackle broken on bow button; button hung askew. - Difficulty connecting water hose when on Thames; male connector on tap and male connector on hose! Unscrewed male adaptor from hose and male adaptor from tap, and was then able to screw lock ring of hose to thread on tap. But, at next water point, found that lock ring on hose and thread on tap had different diameter threads! Replaced male adaptor on tap and removed lock ring from hose; then secured plastic hose directly to the tap male adaptor using the jubilee clip from the hose and a screwdriver given to us by an Environment Agency workman. - Rev counter didn't fall below 1000 RPM, even with the engine at rest! - Toilet pedestal loose from floor! - No plug in sink; fortunately we brought own own! - Dirty towels from previous customer found inside bathroom cupboard. - TV didn't find a single signal at ANY location where we stopped; including beside an empty field at Eaton (Internet did work). - One mug cracked.

We had a brilliant holiday on our canal boat hired from ABC boating. The staff were all very helpful, informative and friendly. the handover was detailed and they answered all our questions. The boat itself was ideal for the four of us and well equipped. We would certainly book with ABC boats again. They arranged perfect weather for us too!!

Great communication pre-trip and the staff at Anderton Marina were excellent. Our boat, the River Warbler, was clean and tidy and was the perfect floating home for our cruise along the Trent & Mersey and Bridgewater canals. We got the hang of handling the boat really quickly and we all had a truly memorable holiday.

Very relaxing week (arranged as an 80th birthday treat for my mum). Called at very short notice to request rearrangement of berths which was accommodated - unfortunately called again to change again but second message possibly didn’t get through. Hardly a major issue though. Very comprehensive handover on arrival (compared to the 15 minutes we received at Aldermaston the previous year). All staff friendly and helpful. Boat a little bit “tired” but comfortable enough for our trip. Very impressed with the prompt response when we had a flat battery in Brecon basin - there within the hour and fixed within a further 30 minutes. The only slightly negative comment we would have is the conflicting advice on what to do and where to moor on the return of the boat. It was also interesting to note that one of the staff when we set off advised us against mooring up on the canal south of Goytre (didn’t give a reason) and yet when we returned another member of staff stated that they were actively encouraging more people to use this stretch. Would certainly use ABC again and would certainly be happy to cruise on the Mon and Brec - perhaps travel the other way a bit next time.

We were well looked at Gailey Wharf and kept informed all the time about when our boat would be ready. I was phoned in advance to ask which way we’d be travelling to enable the boat to be facing the right direction. Very smooth handover and knowledgeable staff.
