First time on a narrowboat and it was great, wish I’d done it sooner, only problem was my other half not so keen, there goes my plan to buy a boat, but I will hire again, in the summer next time, she might like it then can only hope.

When I returned to the marina after a very enjoyable trip, the greeting was disgusting. The marina staff barked orders and belittled me whilst maneuvering the boat. I am a yacht broker and know customer service. He was very lucky not to get a full description from me - lucky for him my kids were on board!

Only brief comment is needed about the boat. It was spotless, well equipped and performed well. I must comment in particular about the staff. Rarely does one encounter such consistency of pleasantness, politeness and helpfulness! It was an absolute delight to interact with each one from the point of arrival to the point of departure .The briefing was clear and necessary. It allowed us to depart with confidence. My wife arrived with some trepidation and unable to see the point of a boat, caravan or tent if there is a good hotel nearby. She enjoyed it and intends to do it again. No more needs to be said The efficiency of the whole operation was a credit to all.

We have hired canal boats many times over the past 10 years, and this holiday exceeded our expectations. Our boat was well equipped and a lot of thought had gone into making it home from home. All the facilities and staff at Kings Orchard Marina were welcoming and helpful with nothing too much trouble. After some tuition from Rich, I finally mastered steering.

First of all I had to contact Feefo direct to get the invite to write this review, abc boat hire do not send requests to customers they have knowingly upset, this kind of underhand, deceptive behaviour runs right through the company. So be aware many true customers reviews won’t be listed here! We had a booking cancelled (Llangollen canal) the day before we were due to travel as they had allocated the incorrect boat for the number in our party. They offered us a bigger boat on a not as good route (Northwich marina), but refused to offer it cheaper, even though I had screen shots of the exact package being advertised on their website for considerably less. Staff at the time were all apologies and talking compensation to appease the situation, but after the event when I contacted them they turned extremely rude and tried to make out the mistake was on our part. They simply couldn’t care less that they ruined our holiday, my advice would be book with a company that puts customers first, not this shambles of a company that only cares for profit. Shame there isn’t a zero star rating.
