Myra and the lock staff were very helpful and friendly. However unfortunately I caught cryptosporidium and could only have come from trip. I was very mindful on hygiene whilst aboard.

Thank you for your feedback. The staff at Falkirk Marina pride themselves on the cleanliness of their boats, which are all cleaned to a very high standard. As well as following strict cleaning procedures, the water tanks are filled up and flushed out between each hire. We are sorry to hear that you have been ill and wish you a speedy recovery. We'd had the same boat the year before and had listed minor 'gripes' that needed fixing. We're not surprised at the end of a season that things need doing. It was lovely to have the same craft this year and see that they'd solved all the previous problems and fitted a new cooker and worktop which was fantastic. Would happily have the same boat again.

Wery professional. It’s my third trip on a narrowboat. And this is so far the most torough company I have rented from. This concerning safety and information. And the marina in Ellesmere is a great base for several journeys in the future. I’ll be back:-)

We had a lovely time, my husband, myself and my two elderly parents, both of whom have mobility problems. The first morning it was raining, but it stopped by lunchtime and although it wasn’t brilliant blue skies every day, we enjoyed the scenery and helpfulness of people we met. We went from Hilperton to Bath and back and the scenery is stunning. It is a very relaxing holiday.

We had a wonderful experience overall. The weather wasn't always on our side but the canal boat and associated activities, including negotiating locks, lift bridges, water and refuse facilities, was everything I expected and more. It's just a shame that we couldn't have longer mooring in Llangollen warf. 48 hours really isn't long enough and as it wasn't full. We felt that we should have been able to stay as long as we paid the daily fee and no other boats were missing out. It would have been even better if there were more noise canalside pubs along the way. For example Lion Quays was a perfect dinner spot with easy access, great food and lovely service. We did have some bother with a smokey exhaust from the central heating and a faulty gas regulator but the Wrenbury engineer Martin was great, coming out to fix the regulator and provide guidance on how to operate the boat and especially how to start with a flat battery. The electric lift bridge at Wrenbury didn't operate as expected, causing a traffic jam and some embarrassment. The kettle had scaling even though we had asked and were advised that it hadn't, but this could be a case of what we were both expecting or used to. The boat's manual needs to show a relevant image and descriptions for the central heating appliance to our boat, as it may have been the cause of us flattening our starter battery on four occasions. The bow rope could have been a bit longer to make mooring easier at Llangollen, where the jetties are much shorter. Thanks for a great time.

As you and your crew took an extended holiday, we can see why the mooring limit in Llangollen would have been frustrating for you but for most of our customers 48 hours is plenty. There are buses that run from Trevor and Frontcycyllte to Llangollen if you ever decide to retrace this route. We're pleased to hear that our team at Wrenbury were able to resolve your technical issues and also offer you additional advice about starting the engine. It sounds as though you had a wonderful two week holiday, making plenty of memories, even if some of them were a little embarrassing! We hope you will be back for another holiday with us again in the future.
