We thought the staff were fantastic, but the boat was disappointing after our previous experiences with Alvechurch. It started with a delayed leaving as we waited for a new TV and then the alternator needed changing which happened day 2 after an anxious time of wondering why we couldn't get heating, TV, Wi-Fi to work and many phone calls back to the office The batteries then seemed to improve but we never could use Wi-Fi. The window catches and both door bolts were difficult and I was unable to open or close the hatch from inside the boat as it was so stuck. The shower dripped in the front bathroom and it needed the man on board to take down the bed in the salon because we couldn't get the supports out. Maybe I had the wrong expectation but it isn't good enough to my mind.

Very good experience with the boat and marina. Unfortunately we had a flat battery for some reason on last morning which delayed our departure. It was sorted but took a couple of hours. The only other reason we marked 4 rather than 5 stars was that it was a very cold weekend. That wasn't anyone's fault.

There were a number of defects on the boat which I felt should have been checked prior to releasing to customers. Namely: Drinking water tastes of algae and not purified water. Gas grill did not work Hot water controller in shower did not work - cold showers. WiFi expired after 2 days. (Not 4). Whilst I appreciate there is a capability to fix one, may be two of these failings by dispatching an engineer, This can be construed as disruptive / intrusive whilst on holiday. If these were tested and rectifiers before boat release then there would be no complaints. I also feel that the 0930 return is a very early check out and could be extended and still allow sufficient time for turnaround boat activities. Despite the above, overall I was happy with the cleanliness of the boat and the courtesy and kind manner of staff - lovely people. I will use you in the future next Easter.

Thank you for your feedback. It is disappointing to hear about some of the issues you experienced on board Rock Bunting, I will pass this on to the marina manager at Alvechurch to investigate. Our arrival and return times are necessary to enable us to clean, prepare and complete any maintenance work on the boat in between hires. The amount of free data provided at the start of your holiday should be sufficient for internet browsing or emailing but may not last long if you are downloading or streaming. You do also have the option to purchase more if needed. I am glad you found our team at Alvechurch to be helpful and courteous. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

The whole experience was excellent from start to finish. We are very grateful to ABC Boat Hire for supplying such a fantastic boat and cannot fault their customer service, helpful attitude, handbook, website etc. Along with the benefit of the sunshine, we thoroughly enjoyed out cruise to Chester and back. We even had time to go the other way from Anderton through the two tunnels. The Anderton Lift is also worth a visit.

This was our first narrowboat experience and even with two fall ins.... don't ask, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We visited the Oxford Canal, Coventry Canal and Ashby Canal, the sights and peace were fabulous. One of our kids, celebrated her birthday onboard which even for a teenager she seemed to enjoy! We are saving up to book a slightly longer and more challenging number of locks for next Easter, with a few more layers of clothing for the slightly chilly starts and avoidance of entering canals being our priority!
