Ein aufregendes langes Wochenende mit 6 Personen auf einem zu Beginn viel zu langen Kahn, der alles bietet, was man braucht, außer ausreichend Platz, um sich mit allen an Deck aufhalten zu können. Nach kurzer "Einarbeitung" hat man sich aber an alles gewöhnt und steuert das Gefährt ohne größer Probleme durch die schmalen Kanäle. Die Leute, die man unterwegs trifft, sind durch die Bank nett. Die Stimmung erinnert an Campingplatzkultur mit allen Vor- und Nachteilen. Unterm Strich: ein tolles Erlebnis, nach unserem Geschmack haben 4 Tage gereicht...

Die Erfahrung ist sehr ähnlich zum Camping, aber mit dem Vorteil, unsere schöne Landschaft zu erkunden! Wir freuen uns sehr, dass es Ihnen gefallen hat und hoffen, dass Sie bald wieder zu einem weiteren Urlaub bei uns zurückkehren werden.

No problems or issues with the boat or staff. Check out and in was smooth. Only issue is with the canal (Ashby). No sign of maintenance by the CRT. Shallow enough in spots to touch bottom. Lots of floating clumps of weeds to steer around. Not enough rubbish bins. Saw bags of trash in the water at one point (fly tippers).

We have all been enjoying the unusually fabulous weather but it has impacted on our canals and the water levels. We have had quite a bit of rain since your holiday and hopefully the situation has now improved. It is sad to think that not everyone wants to keep our countryside clean but if you reported the rubbish to a member of staff then they will have been able to contact CRT. We hope to see you again soon!

We had an amazing holiday. The boat was excellent and the canal was fantastic as were the volunteers along the way who helped us up and down the locks. We would really recommend the boat hire company and the canal. We had a minor problem with the boat one morning and the engineer from the boat yard came out to us very quickly the sort the problem. We will go back again in the future,

We had a great week on the Black Headed Gull! The great weather helped, of course. The instruction on the first day was very good. The boat was very well equipped (the only thing we couldn’t find was a kettle) and everything functioned perfectly. I found the mattress on the double bed extremely comfortable (but my husband didn’t...). The only thing we found a bit strange was that both toilets were full after 5 days so we had to pump out one (and it’s not like we spent the whole day on the boat). But overall a great experience, would definitely recommend.

The kettle is normally left on the hob, which means it must have been removed for some reason. We hope that you called the Marina to tell them that it was missing so that they could bring you a replacement. The toilets should last a full week but with more frequent use they may require pumping out earlier. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

This was our first canal boat holiday for all three couples so we chose a large 8 berth boat. The boat was a little old fashioned but clean and tidy. The Marina staff were good and explained what we needed to know quite although there was a lot of information to take in. Nevertheless we novices were able to cope quite well although the first hour on the canal was a little nervy. The weather throughout the week was fantastic, which no doubt made the holiday and we will certainly repeat the experience.

Really fantastic week aboard the Sea Eagle . All the Hilperton staff were all really helpful and friendly and made sure we understood how the boat worked, and made the leaving and returning process really easy. Boat was lovely, included a microwave which we didn't expect. The only feature we would have liked would be a water tank meter so we had to guess how much water we had, but refilling every third day worked OK for the 4 of us.

Everything was provided for us in the boat...all the eqjuipment was first class. Good tuition before venturing out on the canal.

Loved the whole idea of going narrow boating with the kids. It was mostly easy to learn although we did go aground a few times and turning round is harder than you would think. No problems with locks. the boat was great, albeit beds are somewhat mini. The only issue was the boat broke down - incredibly rare i believe - just bad luck on our first ever trip.
